Dear NASH Students,
As we begin a new school year, I wanted to take a moment to emphasize the critical importance of school safety. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is our utmost priority, and it requires a collective effort from all members of our school community.
At NASH, we have implemented comprehensive safety protocols and procedures to safeguard our students. Some of those measures include incorporating a school police officer and security personnel. In addition, we will be requiring all students entering NASH after the tardy bell to show their school ID or other form of school identification to our security personnel located in the security vestibule.
Other forms of school identification would include verification on your PowerSchool account.

If you need a replacement student ID, please stop by the main office, and a new ID will be provided for you.
We believe that a safe school environment lays the foundation for academic success and personal growth. By working together and staying vigilant, we can ensure that our school remains a place where every student feels protected, valued, and ready to excel.

The NASD 9-12 Student/Parent Handbook is designed to provide you with the information you need about our school’s procedures, programs, and activities. Please use this handbook for guidance and reference throughout the academic year. Once you read through the information, please contact the school’s office if you have any specific questions.
A handbook and code of conduct sign-off form will be available the week of August 3 in PowerSchool. Please sign off that you have reviewed and understand the handbook and NASD Code of Conduct. Completing this PowerSchool form will ensure that you have access to PowerSchool to view schedules on the release date.

SCHEDULING CHANGE REQUESTS
Please complete the NASH Schedule Change Request Form for any schedule change requests. Scheduling change requests will be reviewed in the order that the school counselors receive them. School counselors will use student emails as the source of communication and we encourage our NASH students to check their email frequently.

Important Transportation Details for A.W. Beattie Students
- Tuesday, August 18 - Monday, August 24
- A. W. Beattie Students are expected to attend their classes at NA each morning and stay until 11:55 AM. At that time, students may be picked up by a contact listed in PowerSchool, drive home (NASH only), or stay in the school’s library until the regular dismissal time.
- School Calendar Differences:
As an A.W. Beattie student, you are expected to follow both the NASD and A.W. Beattie calendars.
- When NASD is in session and A.W. Beattie is not:
Report to your home school at the regular time and stay until 11:55 AM. At that time, students may be picked up by a contact listed in PowerSchool, drive home (NASH only), or stay in the school’s library until the regular dismissal time. If a student has parent/guardian permission to walk home, the school must be notified in writing (physical note or email to a contact below).
- When A.W. Beattie is in session and NASD is not:
- You are still expected to attend A.W. Beattie. Transportation will be provided from NAI and MMS at 11:55 AM.

| | FACILITIES FOR THE FUTURE PARENT MEETING | | We are excited to invite you to an upcoming parent meeting to discuss the future of our school building. On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 6:00 PM, we will host a community discussion at North Allegheny Senior High School to review the upcoming facility renovations. During this informative session, our team will provide a detailed overview of the proposed renovations, outline the project timelines, and present draft renderings of the planned visual designs. Your feedback and presence are highly valued as we embark on this exciting new chapter for our school community. Although our District supplies many of the items that your student needs, there may be some additional items your student’s teacher requests that they bring to school.
Each class may require different materials; however, for your first day of school, all you need is a writing utensil, notebook, and your NASD-issued laptop.

Bus Riders
All school buses will drop students off at the Main Entrance upon arrival.
Student Drop-Off / Pick-Up
For the safety of our students, staff, and car riders, our school has specific procedures during arrival and dismissal. Parents/Guardians who are dropping off or picking up their students from NASH should proceed around the back of the building (western side of campus near the athletic fields) to the designated drop-off area near the Athletics entrance.
Student Drivers
All student drivers should plan to be in the NASH parking lots by 7:15 a.m. in order to make it to Period 1 on time. The warning bell rings at 7:24 a.m. and Period 1 begins at 7:28 a.m. If a student arrives at NASH late, they should report to the main entrance security vestibule and proceed to the Attendance Office. Student drivers must yield to buses during arrival and dismissal. District buses have the right of way.
All students must remain in their 9th-period class until 2:15 p.m. dismissal unless they have a documented early dismissal following building/district policy.
District transportation is provided for all North Allegheny students. If you need information about your student’s bus route or if you have any questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our NASH Main Office at 724-934-7200.

BUS ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN PowerSchool

Student bus assignments will be available in PowerSchool on August 6, 2026, by approximately 6:00 PM.
- To locate your student’s bus assignment, log into PowerSchool, locate the navigation menu, and select the Transportation Info button (which features a yellow school bus icon). From there, you’ll be presented with your student’s transportation information, including times and address intersections.

- Drivers are testing routes at the end of July/early August, which may result in a change to your student's bus assignment.
- If your student's transportation is provided by a non-NASD transportation company, you will be contacted separately with the bus assignment.

To receive a NASH student parking permit, students must follow these steps. Detailed instructions for each step are below.

Attention NASH Student Drivers:
We hope you are enjoying your summer!
This email is in regard to the upcoming student safe driving presentations and permit distribution that will be taking place in the NASH Auditorium. In order to receive a parking permit for the 2026-2027 school year, you must attend one of the safe driving presentations and read/complete all necessary required forms (see below).
If you do not plan to obtain a parking permit for the 2026-2027 school year, you may disregard this message and go back to enjoying your summer. If you plan to obtain a parking permit for the 2026-2027 school year, please carefully read the step-by-step instructions below in order to adequately plan for the upcoming safe driving presentations and receive a parking permit.
- Complete the Student Parking Registration Google Form:
For any NASH student who currently has a driver's license and wants to register for a parking space for the 2026–2027 school year, please submit your information through the NASH Student Parking Permit Registration Form.
Important Access Requirement: You must be logged into your North Allegheny student account to access and complete this form.
We highly recommend completing the application alongside a parent or guardian to ensure all submitted information is accurate. Please note that regardless of when you plan to attend a safe driving presentation, you may fill out and submit the registration form at your earliest convenience.
Please read and review the updated NASH Student Driving Guidelines, the North Allegheny School District Board Policies #226, 226.1, and NASD Code of Conduct. There are required questions on the NASH Student Parking Registration Form that ask you to verify that you have read the above documents and will comply with all regulations.
- Attend a Student Safe Driving Presentation:
We will be hosting Student Safe Driving Presentations on the following dates.
- Thursday, July 30 at 1:00 PM
- Tuesday, August 11 at 10:00 AM
The presentation / process to obtain your permit should take approximately one hour, so please plan accordingly. In order to obtain a parking permit, students must attend a safe driving presentation. If you are unable to attend one of the above dates or if you will not have a driver's license by one of the above dates, please contact Ms. Kathleen Leech at kleech@northallegheny.org or 724-934-7214 in order to coordinate a later date for a student safe driving presentation. Please bring your driver’s license with you on the day you plan to attend the student safe driving presentation!
On the day of the student safe driving presentation, you will need to submit payment for your parking pass. The cost of a yearly parking permit at NASH is $100. Payments should be made by check, and checks are made payable to "North Allegheny Senior High School."
IMPORTANT: If you expect to earn your driver's license later in the school year, we will have a link to our presentation in order to review important information. You should not attend one of the parking meetings until you have your driver's license. Please do not complete the registration form unless you have your driver's license.

| | PARKING PERMIT AVAILABILITY | | Parking permits will be sold until the NASH student parking lots are full. Permits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of designated spaces are available for daily parking passes for those students who need to drive to school for emergency/as-needed situations. | | STUDENTS WITHOUT A DRIVER'S LICENSE | | Students who earn their driver’s license after the start of the school year may apply for a parking permit at that time, provided parking spaces remain available. Students may not apply for a parking permit until they have passed their driver’s exam and obtained a valid driver’s license. A junior driver’s permit does not qualify a student to drive to NASH. Safe Driving presentations will be made available online for students who receive their driver’s license during the school year. Please see Ms. Leech in the main office for the online link. | | |
Our NASH Medication drop-off date is Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Please bring your student's medications along with the required doctor’s order at that time.

The purpose of our NAI/NASH PTSO is:
- To promote the general welfare and foster a positive, nurturing environment for youth in the home, school, and community;
- To serve as an advocate to promote the care and protection of our students;
- To provide a forum for parents, educators and students to cooperate collectively in the educational process for our students;
- To develop a closer relationship among the parents, educators and students through communication and ongoing information exchange, in order to secure for all of our youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, and social education; and
- To provide financial support in accordance with the budget approved by the organization.

PARENT/COUNSELOR COFFEES
North Allegheny Senior High School sponsors Parent/Counselor Coffees for parents/guardians who are interested in meeting with the NASH Administrative Team as well as the Counselors to discuss common interests and concerns. Information about school programs, procedures and activities will be provided. If you have an interest in participating in these Coffees, you will be receiving emails through Naviance announcing these Coffees and requesting your RSVP to these events. These meetings will also be held virtually. The Coffees are scheduled in the Ponce Room located in the Baierl Center, the NASH Auditorium, or the NAI Auditorium at the times listed below. Parking spaces for parents will be available in the student parking lot.
