NASIMCO Annual Conference

NASIMCO just wrapped up its 2024 NASIMCO Annual Conference this month. The Conference was hosted by our brothers and sisters of the Al Kawthar Islamic Association in their new facilities in Surrey, BC.

The event was preceded by a fundraising gala for Al Kawthar Islamic Foundation, where more than $120,000 CAD was raised for the center. NASIMCO donated $25,000 USD towards their goal.

The Gala was hosted by Neil Nasser of the UK.

The NASIMCO Conference took place at the new Center on Saturday and Sunday, attended by dozens of delegates from across North America. The meeting was chaired by NASIMCO Hon. Secretary MohamedArif Jagani and moderated by NASIMCO CAO, Shifa Abbas.

NASIMCO was proud to attend Al Kawthar's Opening Ceremony, held on Saturday night.

The Conference ended on a high note, with a Community Bazaar, bringing together vendors from the Greater Vancouver Area.

On behalf of the NASIMCO Board of Directors and Secretariat, we extend a heartfelt thanks to the Al Kawthar community for opening their doors and welcoming us with open arms. We thank the Al Kawthar team and the countless volunteers who came together to make this event a huge success.

Announcements from the World Federation Conference

NASIMCO is pleased to congratulate Al Haj Habib Meghjee on his election as Vice President of the World Federation of KSIMC for the 2024–2027 term at the Triennial Conference.

Habib bhai has been a community stalwart, and supporter of NASIMCO for many years. He has been an invaluable resource to NASIMCO and we believe his leadership will propel the World Federation to new heights and achievements, furthering its mission of fostering unity, development, and progress within our community. We look forward to working with him closely to move NASIMCO and the World Federation to greater heights, inshAllah.

We pray to Allah (SWT) to grant him the tawfeeqat necessary to fulfill his responsibilities in his new role.

We are also delighted to congratulate Br. Sadiq Datoo on his election as a Councillor of the World Federation.

Sadiq Datoo was born and raised in London, UK as part of the Hujjat Stanmore community. After graduating from King’s College London school of Pharmacy, he and his wife moved to Milton Keynes before immigrating to Minnesota, USA in 2007 where he now lives with his wife and two children.

Sadiq’s passion for community service started in his teenage years when he was a volunteer in Stanmore jamaat as well as a madressa teacher. He was also a mentor in several community youth camps organized by COEJ. During his time in Milton Keynes, Sadiq took his first EC role as Secretary of Milton Keynes jamaat. Most recently, Sadiq completed four years as President of the Minnesota Jamaat where he is still an active volunteer.

Sadiq is honored to have a new opportunity to serve as an elected councilor of the World Federation and is looking forward to being able to contribute to the worldwide community.
