On May 21st, the Center of Islamic Learning (CIL) had the pleasure of hosting the 2nd CIL Teachers Conference in New York, in parallel to the annual NASIMCO conference. The Conference was attended by Madrasah Management, Teachers, Administrators and Staff from all over North America including Florida, Minnesota, Montreal, New York, Ontario and Pennsylvania.
In addition to having a WF MCE update from Sh. Safder Jaffer, the CIL Team also provided updates on Tarbiyah and Quran curricula, TSP Training, Kajabi online self-learning tools and Social Media initiatives The highlight of the event were the interactive group discussions facilitated by Sh. Bilal Hussein along with our CIL training facilitators. The discussion topics explored current trending issues impacting our youth/students, and how we can address these issues from the standpoint of being educators. Among the topics discussed were: the impact of Social Media such as TikTok and Snapchat, the influence of drugs being legalized and available as edibles, protecting students from fake news and cyberbullying, and ensuring the Quran maintains a strong presence in our day-to-day lives.
We are truly thankful to all those who attended and took advantage of the opportunity the CIL Team and NASIMCO provided.
The attendees of the CIL Teachers Conference also had the phenomenal impact of demonstrating to the Jamaat delegates in attendance what CIL does, the impact of the training on the teachers, and why teachers from near and far were willing to take time out to attend such an event with so much enthusiasm. In fact, we were able to make an impact on minds and wallets alike, and alhamdulillah got pledges from donors of over $50K towards CIL activities.
We would not have been able to have such an impact without the attendance and support of those who attended the conference!
Based on the pledges received, our CIL team is already working on a revised lineup of training and CIL events for the year. In the meantime, here are some memorable moments from the CIL Teachers Conference.
