State of the Organization

Dear NASPAA Members,

As 2025 comes to close, we write to celebrate NASPAA’s accomplishments and share priorities for the year ahead. This year, NASPAA strengthened member services, expanded global reach, and reaffirmed its role as the global standard for public service education. We increased tangible member value through upgraded teaching resources, stronger professional development, and the rising influence of JPAE. The result: an organization that is globally connected and better positioned to serve members in a fast-changing environment.

2025 Highlights

  • Advancing Excellence in Public Service Education: 207 accredited programs across 11 countries; enhancements to Publicases.org; expanded committee work; JPAE’s growth with a new Sage partnership; Pi Alpha Alpha’s continued expansion and student engagement through competitions.
  • Growing Global Engagement: 17 new institutional members from nine countries; first post-COVID regional conference with 600+ registrants from 27 nations; renewed and expanded MOUs with partners such as AAPAM, NISPAcee, and CANSPPA/BRICS.
  • Supporting Public Service: Issued a February 2025 statement defending merit, nonpartisanship, and tenure in government, reaffirming NASPAA’s commitment to the legitimacy and dignity of public service.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Guided by the presidential theme “Reflect, Renovate, Reimagine—Toward a Sustainable Future,” NASPAA will:

  • Uphold Trust and Leadership: Commit to transparent, inclusive governance; support new programs and directors; foster mentorship; and strengthen diverse leadership pipelines.
  • Reimagine Public Service Education: Renovate learning environments for well-being; integrate Indigenous and community-driven perspectives; deepen global partnerships; expand member services beyond accreditation; and center people, purpose, and public impact in governance and storytelling.
  • Advance Sustainability and Global Relevance: Encourage curricula and practices that prepare students to lead with civic courage in a changing world, while reinforcing NASPAA’s role as a trusted global convener.

Closing with Gratitude and Kindness

We end 2025 with gratitude for our member institutions, faculty, students, and colleagues worldwide. Despite challenges, this year brought clear progress. As we enter 2026, we do so with humility, optimism, and a renewed commitment to kindness — in how we lead, how we teach, and how we serve. Thank you for preparing principled, effective public servants and for strengthening communities with skill, compassion, and purpose. Together, we can reflect honestly, renovate wisely, and reimagine boldly for a sustainable future.

With appreciation,
