Domestic Violence 201:

Clinical Interventions for Working with Survivors

This full-day, interactive training includes a deeper dive into domestic violence in a mental and behavioral health setting. CCADV Clinical Director Rachel Boucher, LCSW and Director of Training Alyssa Bossengreene will lead attendees in discussions of mental health and substance use coercion, general practices to support known and unknown survivors of abuse, proactive and early interventions for clients experiencing domestic violence, and an overview of several research-based clinical interventions for survivors. 



After completing this training, participants will be able to:

• Use best-practice themes and frameworks for providing therapy to survivors
• Apply domestic-violence-friendly tools to general practice
• Respond effectively to disclosures of domestic violence
• Make safety plans with survivors to preserve their access to mental health services
• Know about and independently explore research-based clinical intervention programs for survivors

Join The Connecticut Women’s Consortium and the CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services for a dynamic new maternal behavioral health conference at the Hartford Marriott Downtown. This engaging program will unite behavioral health clinicians, medical providers, community-based practitioners, and lived-experience voices to strengthen care across clinical, cultural, and holistic domains. Together, we will explore how to bridge silos in maternal healthcare and advance safe, trauma-informed, gender-responsive, culturally competent, whole-person care for every individual.

Featured presenters include Catharine McDonald, MS, NCC, LPC, PMH-C, a perinatal mental health and reproductive wellness expert; Dr. Lucinda Canty, PhD, CNM, FACNM, FAAN, midwife, researcher, and Black maternal health leader; Kenn Harris, renowned speaker and maternal health advocate; Dr. Dyanne Tappin, UCONN educator, OBGYN, and perinatal mental health specialist; and a panel of complementary health and wellness providers highlighting their role in perinatal behavioral healthcare.

Social Work Practice Fellows Certificate Program in Supervision

October 2026 – March 2027

Ready to take your career to the next level! The Social Work Practice Fellows (SWPF) Post Master’s Certificate Program may be a game-changer for you. This 36-hour program provides intensive training on supervision. The SWPF offers an advanced curriculum with a focus on some of the most complex issues challenging supervisors today. Participants will learn about best practices and benefit from being part of a cohort-style learning community.

The educational model includes:

• Interactive virtual webinars taught by academic and practice-based experts
• didactic presentations and group learning activities
• peer-to-peer interaction and support

Eligibility and Requirements - Participants selected for the program must be:

• MSW-level social workers
• Currently supervising social service workers. Supervisees can include any number of MSWs, BSWs, or other social service staff.

The SWPF meets virtually from October 2026 – March 2027 (12 sessions, 3 hrs. each). It is approved for 36 CECs and satisfies the cultural competency requirement for CT social work license renewal. Enrollment is limited to 25.
