NASW-WA Chapter 2024 Conference Updates!

The Chapter's Conference Planning Committee is engaged in preparation for hosting an in-person statewide social work conference in September 2024 in Washington. The team has selected a theme: "Building Connections for a Socially Just Future. "The Conference is planned for September 19-21, 2024 at Northern Quest Resort & Casino in Airway Heights, WA (near Spokane).

In preparation for the Conference, our team has developed a Call for Presenters. We're seeking social work professionals interested in presenting in-person workshops or keynotes that are in line with this year's theme. Click here for the Conference Call for Presenters. Our deadline for responses is December 15, 2023!

The Planning team meets on December 18th and will assess where we are with presentation submissions. Our next steps include posting the call for sponsorships, posting the conference agenda, and securing volunteers for the event. Stay tuned!

Legislative Updates

State Updates

Save the Date: The Chapter's Legislative Action Committee (LAC) will host the 2024 NASW-WA Policy Conference on Monday, February 19, 2024 in Olympia. This year, we will offer an in-person opportunity to learn about the policy process in Washington and discuss NASW-WA's policy priorities for 2024.

The LAC will meet on December 16th to identify additional bills of interest that fall under the legislative priority areas of social work professional issues, mental health/SUD, social justice, economic justice and other issues of interest. The Chapter worked to secure sponsorship of the social work compact. To find out more about the compact, go to swcompact.org. As bills are prefiled during the month of December, the Chapter will add bills to our website and share with chapter members.
