Earlier this week NATO met in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. The 31 member countries (including the recently joined Finland) decided to not really do anything this year because it’s an “off year.” What?! No they didn’t. What they actually did, in short, was strengthen the alliance: removing barriers for Sweden’s admission, doubling down on support for Ukraine, and making the previous commitment of 2% of national GDP for defense the new floor rather than the ceiling. All because a formidable democracy-loving alliance against the powers of fascism and autocracy is essential.

I don’t want to compare Field Team 6 to NATO, but there are some striking similarities. We also partner with other organizations to create a formidable democracy-loving alliance. Take a look at our list of partners HERE (scroll down). Not to brag, but it’s more than 31. We are also not taking this or any other year off because of some misguided “off year” thinking. 

Our founder, Jason Berlin, traveled figuratively to Lithuania yesterday. In reality he dodged tornadoes while traveling to Chicago to attend the NATO of organizing summits Netroots Nation which starts today. There he will be actively doing the work to forge new partnerships, strengthen existing ones, and share the good news of how registering Democrats every day of every year (focused on swing states and districts where new Democrats matter most) is crucial to keeping the powers of fascism and autocracy at bay. 

MAGA Republicans are actively working to undermine America’s support for Ukraine. Heat waves, tornadoes and floods highlight the importance of immediate climate action. Freedoms are being taken away by the dark money funded MAGA Justices on the SCOTUS and unrepresentative state legislatures. There’s one party who’s working hard to address all of these issues: Democrats. It seems obvious what we need to do.

If you’ve made a previous commitment to volunteer or donate a certain amount of your time and/or hard-earned dollars, I humbly ask you to look to NATO. Be inspired to make your previous commitment the floor not the ceiling. Let’s spend more resources protecting democracy. It’s surprisingly cheap and thrillingly effective! Thank you.

ACTIVATE 22 – SHOWS HOW WE CAN GIT 'ER DONE!

We love our partners, and we love when we can be a resource to their wild success! That’s especially true of our partners at Activate22, a homegrown community of enthusiastic volunteers who use data-driven strategies to register new voters, get out the vote, and protect the right to vote. We teamed up with them in 2020 and again in 2022 to focus on registering new Democrats in Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas, and Wisconsin!

Using our data and the awesome power of their volunteers and donations, they not only sent postcards to unregistered likely-Democrats, but also texted those potential voters both before and after they received postcards. That’s three points of contact for each potential voter. Data shows that multiple contacts equals more registrations!

What was the outcome? They helped register 25,586 fresh, new Democrats in these major swing states (AZ=8,082, CA=1,684, NV=1,966, TX=10,016 and WI=3,838)! Those are the kinds of numbers that swing elections! We’re excited to see what we can accomplish together next; if you are too, click HERE to find out how to partner with us!

WORK CONTINUES IN OHIO!

The first of two big Ohio voter registration deadlines has passed, but our work in the Buckeye State continues. We can still Get Out The Vote for the August 8 special election (and remind everyone to VOTE NO on Issue 1) as well as register new Democrats for November’s hugely consequential general election.

Thanks to the tireless work of activists who gathered over 710,000 petition signatures (nearly twice the 413,000 needed) a referendum to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution will be on November’s ballot.

Did we say “hugely consequential?” [Checks notes.] Yes, we did!

Phonebanking, textbanking, postcarding and digital letter writing will be among the offerings—and you get to do it in person with your new friends!

California has so many swing districts that flipping just some could allow us to take back the House in '24!

One of those districts is California's 27th, the only remaining Republican district in LA County. It's represented by traitorous MAGA-bot Mike Garcia, who campaigned as a moderate, then promptly joined the Insurrection Caucus in voting to overturn Biden's victory. Let's retire him.
