Advent

Advent begins on Sunday, December 1. To celebrate this important liturgical season, we have an online Advent guide here, with lots of opportunities for prayer and reflection. Morning Prayer will be based around Word on Fire’s Advent Gospel Reflections, and we will reflect on Advent through activities in our Community houses.

Communal Reconciliation times for Advent are:

  • Sunday, Dec 8 at 3pm at Urbana
  • Tuesday Dec 10 at 6:30pm at St. Paul Newhall
  • Saturday, Dec 14 at 10:30am at All Saints
  • Tuesday, Dec 17 at 6pm at St. Matthew
  • Saturday, Dec 21 at 10:30am at St. Pius X

Angel of Hope Prayer Service

The Angel of Hope statue at Xavier High School is a beautiful symbol of hope for all who are grieving the loss of a child. This Advent season, we are called to pray for everyone who is seeking hope and light throughout their days. All are invited and welcome on Friday, December 6th to attend the annual prayer service at the Angel of Hope statue (located on the east side of Xavier near the Activities Entrance) and lift those up who are in need this Advent season. The service begins at 7:00 PM and concludes at approximately 7:30 PM.

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception will be celebrated on December 9. This year, for the Archdiocese of Dubuque, it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation, but we encourage you to still celebrate Mary’s Immaculate Conception by going to Daily Mass at one of the parishes in the Cedar Rapids area!
