SLIGHTLY SPOOKY FUN PLANNED FOR EVERY SATURDAY IN OCTOBER
A new series of Halloween pop-up events offer tricks and treats every Saturday in October at Navy Pier. Each Slightly Spooky Saturday, Oct. 9-30, features a different theme. All events are free. It’s “Magic and Mystery” on Oct. 9, when magician and mentalist Mike O’Donell dazzles and confounds audiences. Then stick around for a screening of Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone. Oct. 9 goes to “Outer Space” with a celebration of science fiction. Guests are invited to come in costume to enjoy a screening of Rogue One, A Star Wars Story. “Superheroes and Cosplay” set the mood for Oct 23, which features a screening of the Dark Knight and a set from DJ Mohammed in conjunction with After School Matters. Then comes the big night, Halloween Eve, on Oct 30, which offers trick-or-treating, a mad-scientist educational presentation, and a screening of Hocus Pocus. Harry Caray’s Tavern joins the fun every Saturday with such events as Halloween dinners, professional cosplayers contest (with a $500 prize), dog-friendly costume contest, and trivia nights.
