President's Message
In this final message of my tenure as NAWBO CA President, I want to hold up the dynamic, successful women of the NAWBO CA BOD. They run their successful businesses while volunteering to support the progress of the 11 NAWBO Chapters across the state as well as women-owned who don't even know we are here for them.

President Elect: Hilary Lentini, Lentini Design & Marketing, Inc. Hilary, your professionalism and creativity in producing Propel 2019 made it a memorable and successful event. Your professionalism serves us well and I can't wait to see where we go under your leadership.  Vice President : Theresa Ashby, Dynam Consulting. Your energy and thoughtful crafting of ideas were meaningful to our BOD direction. Thank you for how you navigate to consensus.

Treasurer: Jennifer Dizon, Hood & Strong, LLP. It's the consistent BOD members like Jennifer who bring balance and calm to our volunteer organization. Thank you for all the organization and reporting behind the scenes, Jennifer!  Corporate Liaison : Laura Russell-Jones, Wells Fargo Advisors. Laura, your steadfast forward momentum and incremental success in developing relationships with new and current sponsors is critical to our alignment with women-owned businesses. You produce strong results and are vital to the continued growth of our federation of chapters.

Advocacy Director: Diane De Mailly, DDM Metering Systems, Inc. You shepherded us through the biggest legislatively influential year we've had in the last decade and you did it with the right intensity to effect signed legislation, SB 826.  Business Policy Director : Shaila Rao Mistry, Jayco Panels. Shaila, you always have a unique approach and creative look at where our NAWBO CA Chapter is going and growing. Thank you for your consistent service and being such a strong champion for us.

Secretary: Kay Robinson, Insight Business Solutions. Thank you for your years of service in this important role. Your systematic approach to this role made it easy for the rest of the BOD.  It was a joy to volunteer with this powerful group! Thank you to Andrea Messina, Group Concepts for her dedication as our Administrator.

And I am thankful for the support of our valued sponsors this past year - Bank of America, Sempra, Google, Union Bank, DGS, Comcast, Metropolitan Water District, PG&E, Morgan Stanley, CA American Water, Proxfinity and Communication Works, Inc. They step up time after time and keep the lights on!  I now throw my full support to Hilary and our new BOD who will continue to align with needs and dreams of woman-owned businesses across California.

In gratitude for the opportunity to serve,

Mindy Bortness

Incoming President's Message
Hello chapter leaders and fellow #NAWBOsisters!  I'm looking forward to serving as President of NAWBO-CA starting July 1!

First off, I'd like to thank our current, amazing President, Mindy Bortness, for your service this past year. It has been a pleasure learning from your brilliant guidance and to see you in action. Your thoughtful, strategic leadership helped to build upon the efforts and achievements of so many wonderful NAWBO-CA presidents before you (Anne Staines, Hilda Kennedy, Laura Neubauer, and Jennifer Dizon, just to name a few). I endeavor as well to add to this great leadership lineage.

Next month in this newsletter, I will share my goals created for and with you all for the next 12 months. I'll be seeking insight and assistance from you, too, so stay tuned! Know that I honor and value the contributions, efforts, and ideas each of you bring.  Invest in your membership, support your #NAWBOsisters in their journeys and let's all keep building on each other's accomplishments and advocacy!

Looking forward,

Hilary Lentini
President-Elect, NAWBO-CA
