TDC Unveils New Look and Grant Program
Please join us in congratulating our friends and partners at The Development Corporation (now "TDC") as they recently unveiled a new logo, website (tdcnny.com), and enhanced online presence to celebrate their 60th year in operation.

As noted by the North Country Chamber of Commerce, TDC's commitment to a non-profit approach to industrial real estate development has served hundreds of businesses through the years and helped to transform our area into a North American leader in FDI.

In addition to these exciting changes, TDC is also:

SUNY Plattsburgh & Clarkson Launch Online Master's in Supply Chain Management
SUNY Plattsburgh global supply chain management students can now turn their bachelor's into a master's degree in only one additional year by enrolling in a new online 4+1 agreement with Clarkson University.
The agreement includes:

  • No application fee for SUNY Plattsburgh students
  • Exclusive scholarship opportunities
  • Supply Chain Management Excellence Scholarship of $2,000
  • Other benefits for students whose GMAT and GPA scores are high, including guaranteed or automated acceptance.
"This articulation agreement between SUNY Plattsburgh and Clarkson University is a testament to how the North Country excels at building needed and valuable partnerships" said Joel Wood, Director of NAmTrans. "Our North Country Transportation Equipment and Aerospace Cluster will undoubtedly benefit from the students graduating from this newly developed 4+1 Masters program, and NAmTrans would like to congratulate SUNY Plattsburgh and Clarkson on making it a reality."

CTA Approves Purchase of Up To 600 Buses from Nova Bus
Last week, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) approved the purchase of up to 600 new, 40-foot clean-diesel LFS buses from Nova Bus.

This decision allows for the purchase of at least 100 buses and includes the option to purchase an additional 500 clean-diesel buses, which will enable CTA to maintain safe and reliable service while gradually retiring the oldest buses in their fleet.

“This decision from a clearly satisfied customer is another major advance for Nova Bus and our region’s transportation equipment cluster,” says Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber of Commerce. “An order for up to 600 buses would be extraordinary from any city, but it sends an especially powerful message across North America when a major past customer such as Chicago chooses Nova Bus again. It’s a true testament to Nova Bus’ Plattsburgh operation, its suppliers and its skilled employees and something we can all be proud of. Congratulations and onward and upward!”
BAE Systems is Making "Waves" on Lake Champlain
BAE Systems is making "waves" on Lake Champlain!

Chartwell Marine recently selected BAE Systems to supply the electric hybrid power and propulsion system for a new maritime research vessel for the University of Vermont.

BAE Systems’ HybriGen® Power and Propulsion system will help to reduce both carbon emissions and the use of fuel by the vessel, which will serve as a floating classroom and lab for students of the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources conducting research on the lake.

BAE Systems is a valued NAmTrans Cluster Company, longtime partner of Nova Bus on their line of long-range, fully-electric LFSe+ buses, and a world leader in electric propulsion technologies - we would like to congratulate them on this contract and their ongoing commitment to green technologies.
Norsk Titanium Gives Back to the Local Community
Now more than ever, it's crucial that we help encourage students to consider careers in STEAM-related fields.

Norsk Titanium has stepped up to the plate, supporting both the Plattsburgh/Malone YMCA and the Strand Center for the Arts in their STEAM endeavors.

Norsk recently pledged $3,000 to the Plattsburgh/Malone YMCA's Engineering our Future initiative. This partnership will help empower local students to pursue careers in STEM and STEAM related fields.

Norsk is also donating a 3-D printer to the Strand which will be housed in their future maker-space as part of the Strand's participation in the City of Plattsburgh's Downtown Revitalization Initiative.

This is yet another example of how our North Country Transportation Equipment & Aerospace Cluster gives back to our local community. Kudos to Norsk and all involved!
