🏥NB Lung Announces Exciting New Partnerships with Blue Charm and iMasterHealth⚕️

NB Lung is thrilled to announce our latest partnerships with two innovative health organizations: Blue Charm and iMasterHealth. These collaborations are designed to enhance the support and resources available to our community, particularly those living with severe asthma, COPD, and those awaiting or recovering from lung transplants.

Blue Charm: Empowering Lung Health Awareness

Blue Charm is a revolutionary platform dedicated to helping individuals understand their lung health conditions better. They are currently seeking input from people living with COPD, asthma and severe asthma. Their app offers an engaging way for people to learn about their conditions through interactive surveys and educational modules. Participants not only gain valuable insights into their health but also get financially compensated for their time and effort. By partnering with Blue Charm, NB Lung aims to provide New Brunswickers with accessible and informative tools to manage their lung health more effectively.

iMasterHealth: Virtual Pulmonary Rehabilitation

iMasterHealth offers a comprehensive virtual pulmonary rehabilitation program, designed to help individuals improve their lung function and overall quality of life. This program includes both paid and free options, ensuring that everyone can access the support they need. Recognizing the financial challenges faced by many, NB Lung is actively seeking sponsors to cover the cost of a paid subscription for our Lung Transplant Support Group members. This initiative will enable our members to benefit from iMasterHealth's rehabilitation services without the burden of additional costs.

Both Blue Charm and iMasterHealth will have information on the NB Lung website, where you can learn more about these programs and how to participate.

☀️Heat, Health & Climate Change🫠

Climate change is causing more intense heatwaves, which can lead to heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and worsen respiratory conditions like asthma and COPD. Poor air quality during high temperatures can further impact lung health.

Safety Tips for Extreme Heat

  1. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water, avoiding sugary, caffeinated, or alcoholic drinks.
  2. Stay Cool: Spend time in air-conditioned places during peak heat hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
  3. Limit Outdoor Activities: Exercise or do outdoor work in the early morning or late evening.
  4. Wear Light Clothing: Choose lightweight, breathable fabrics and wear hats and sunglasses.
  5. Monitor Air Quality: Check local air quality updates and stay indoors when it's poor.
  6. Check on Vulnerable People: Ensure the safety of people who are more susceptible to the effects of extreme heat, such as children, the elderly, and people living with lung disease.

Stay safe and cool this summer with NB Lung's guidance. For more tips and information, visit our Heat & Humidity page.
