👩🏼‍⚕️Farewell to a Lung Health Champion: Barb Walls Retires from NB Lung⚕️

After over a decade of unwavering dedication, NB Lung is bidding a fond farewell to our Director of Health Promotion, Barb Walls. Since 2009, Barb has been a vital part of our organization, tirelessly working to improve lung health in New Brunswick, and building a legacy of compassion and impact.

Her time with us has been marked by countless acts of kindness and support, guiding more than a hundred transplant patients through their challenging journeys, offering them advice, hope, and comfort.

Her passion for public health was evident in her role as a presenter and a lung health advocate. She has delivered smoking cessation programs to schools province-wide, and contributed to lung health strategy committees across the country. Barb had also worked to streamline patient care through improving access to life-saving medications and increasing financial support for New Brunswickers requiring care outside the province, ensuring they receive the assistance they deserve.

As Barb embarks on this new chapter, we’re celebrate her remarkable contributions to lung health and bid her a fond farewell. Though she may be retiring from NB Lung, her impact will continue to resonate, inspiring us all to strive for a healthier, more compassionate world. Thank you for your service, Barb!

💊Accessible pharma care through the

New Brunswick Drug Plan💸

Chronic disease needs pharma care.

Did you know that over 60% of New Brunswickers live with a chronic disease, and that 1 in 3 New Brunswickers are living without prescription drug coverage? Access to medication as prescribed by a physician is critical to managing chronic conditions, but patients are often forced into a position of having to make financial decisions about whether they can afford to follow their treatment plan. One 2022 study showed that 1 in 5 adults regularly skipped their medication because of cost concerns.

New Brunswick Drug Plan - What's the Deal?

The New Brunswick Drug Plan is a provincially subsidized pharma care program designed to bridge this gap and help people pay for their prescription medicines. If you live in New Brunswick and need to buy medicine from a pharmacy, enrolling in the plan can make it cheaper. Users pay a monthly membership fee, which allows them access to special low pricing each time they need to buy prescription medication.

Why are NB Lung advocates of the New Brunswick Drug Plan?

Our work is grounded in Patient Support, Public Education for illness prevention & management. We imagine a world where financial concerns don't dictate a person’s ability to access prescribed care, and public drug coverage programs like the New Brunswick Drug Plan are and important part of achieving this universal access.
