The Difference Between:
The EXRAIL and Traditional Slide Guides
Roller Guide Advances
The EXRAIL design is a subtle but meaningful advance in the evolution of slide guides. Central to the new guide are the needle rollers or bearings that replace more traditional ball bearings. It is like other guides in that it consists simply of a rail with four rows of precisely machined raceway grooves and a block that caries the load. The block includes the main body, needle rollers, return caps, and seals
The needle bearings are continually relubricated as they travel through their raceways. A porous-resin part (1) holds and transfers lubricant to the rollers (2) that lower friction between the block and the guide rails (3).
Needle rollers
Needle rollers are key to the improved performance. By using a longer roller, the contact rigidity of the rollers and the track surface increases. Using more thin bearings than ball bearings to support the load distributes that load more evenly and increases the roller guide’s load capacity. Also, the high number of thin bearings reduces the guide’s vibrations by 50%, due to the rolling elements (called waving) that affect the block, which improves precision.

The relatively large number of needle bearings also increases the guide’s dynamic friction and shortens the time needed for oscillations to converge. This makes the guide’s vibrational damping more than 1.5 times higher than that of conventional guide blocks.
High Load Capacity
Ball Screw Actuator

This compact single axis actuator has a unique “U” shaped integrated slide guide and ball screw. The BG Actuator’s highly rigid structure may be one-end supported. The 4 ball circuits contained in its slide block deliver high load capacity, accuracy and rigidity.
