FDIC Releases Quarterly Banking Profile

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Quarterly Banking Profile shows third-quarter net income declined by $2.4 billion compared to the second quarter. Total deposits declined for the sixth consecutive quarter.


In the third quarter, Nebraska banks recorded profits of $261 million, a decrease of 5.78% compared to the previous quarter. Deposits increased 1.61% to $84 billion.

House Approves 1071 Resolution

The House of Representatives approved a Senate joint resolution to overturn the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) Section 1071 final rule. All Nebraska lawmakers voted in favor of the resolution. The measure now heads to President Biden, who has indicated he plans to veto it.
