NEW ORLEANS: The National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) will be hosting the second in its series of panels dealing with athletics and gaming. Player harassment, influencers and mental health issues will all be topics for the Special Committee on Education. Attendees will hear straight from star athletes and influencers at NCLGS Winter Meeting, December 12-15 at Caesars New Orleans.

Former college and NBA basketball player Randy Livingston – who was a legendary high school player in Louisiana – says, "As someone who’s seen the evolution of both athletics and gaming, it’s critical we address how expanded gaming intersects with player welfare. Athletes already face immense pressure, and the rise of sports betting introduces new challenges, including harassment and mental health impacts. Thoughtful legislation and proactive regulation are essential to safeguard athletes while promoting responsible gaming practices."

The session will be chaired by Rep. Mike Finn of Massachusetts. Presenters will include:

  • Eric Froton, Lead College Football Analyst, NBC Sports
  • DeShawn Hanika, Tight End, University of Kansas (invited)
  • Randy Livingston, Sports Associate, EPIC Global Solutions; former NBA professional basketball player
  • Daniel Trolaro, Co-Managing Director of Education & Training, IC360

The four-day NCLGS Winter Meeting will begin with two IMGL Master Classes on Thursday afternoon, followed by 12 sessions over the next three days that will be chaired by legislative leaders from across the country. Attendees will also enjoy receptions on Thursday and Friday nights (sponsored by GLI and IGT respectively), as well as two late-night parties on Thursday (sponsored by Light & Wonder and Jones Walker respectively) and Friday (sponsored by FanDuel). And on Saturday, the Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, the nation's third oldest racetrack, will host an Afternoon at the Races for NCLGS attendees.

These events will provide attendees with the opportunity to mingle with industry insiders, state legislators, and regulators on an informal basis. NCLGS, founded more than a quarter-century ago, is the only organization of state lawmakers that meets on a regular basis to discuss issues related to gaming. NCLGS neither promotes nor opposes gaming but is focused on proper regulation and promoting best practices in the governance of this important industry.
