Nursing Home Week 2020
June 7th to 13th
This year, nursing home week takes on new meaning as a result of the extraordinary period of time we are all enduring. Labour unrest, funding issues, and most recently a pandemic have become part of our daily conversations on how will we all manage through and ensure residents maintain a high quality of life and care.

As we reflect, there is something new that has emerged in our sector that we wouldn't expect after going through such trying times. We have always been proud of the work that we do everyday for our residents. However, this pride has taken on new meaning as a result of the extraordinary work that each nursing home in New Brunswick has done over the last year. This has resulted in much greater awareness by the public, and pride in what our homes have done right to prevent a COVID outbreak. This has been a unifying experience with labour and government as we were able to all come together and do what needed to be done to ensure resident and employee safety. We know there remains much work to be done, and unifying experiences only last when collaboration continues, but for this week we can celebrate the extraordinary achievement made by our sector and be thankful for all those who support us.

I personally thank all management and staff, Board members and volunteers who give tirelessly to the homes through out the year. I am so appreciatively for all you do, and celebrate you all during this special week.

Sincerely,

Jodi Hall
