NYSED Shanker Grant is Open

Applications will be accepted through February 6, 2026 or

until funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.

Be sure to include the Tenure Attestation Form.

The NYSED's Albert Shanker Grant for National Board Certification

fully funds the NBPTS Application Costs ($1,900)

in the following order of priority:

Candidates seeking their first certification, or
Retake of one component or,
Maintenance of Certification (MOC) from NBPTS.

Funding is limited!

If you are an Advanced Candidate, retaking components see

this resource to apply for Shanker Grant Funding.

Take the next step in your professional journey. This Recorded Awareness Webinar is an opportunity for educators to learn about the process of becoming a National Board Certified Teacher. An overview of components, resources, and available funding will be provided.

Support For Educators Pursuing Certification

Educators unite and focus on their selected component(s) for their National Board certificate area. Teachers strengthen their professional practice as they demonstrate their decisions making and student learning. They collaborate to provide evidence of the NBPTS certificate standards. Most educators say this is the best professional learning of their career.

NYC Men TEACH- NBC Cohort

NYC Men Teach (NYCMT) is committed to recruiting and supporting men of color as teachers and leaders within NYC. Join this information session to explore this opportunity. All are welcome!
This cohort will meet virtually monthly from 6-8pm.

The National Board Council of New York Network NBCNY greatly appreciates your time in completing an important SURVEY to identify the valuable skills, knowledge, and expertise that National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) possess that could be applied in consulting, coaching, leadership, and other professional roles within and beyond education.

Your responses will be added to our website where NBCTs share their expertise and potential contributions to the broader educational community.

There are eight sections. At the most, it should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

Our goal is to have your responses by November 10, 2025.

We look forward to learning more about NY's NBCTs! Your insights and experiences are valuable as we work to better understand and support our NBCT community.

NBPTS Professional Learning Facilitator Training

These live virtual sessions will provide helpful knowledge and skills to those seeking to support educators in professional learning and pursuit of the National Board Certification process. The sessions are interactive and outside reading is required. All materials will be provided electronically.
