We are thrilled for this exhibition! Please join us in June for this fourth in a celebrated series of exhibitions showcasing the vibrant creativity and evolving practices of book artists in this Interior Alaska community. Below is a list of the many special programs related to the exhibition that you don't want to miss:

“What is an Artist Book?”

Bear Gallery

Members of the Guild will address the question, “What is an Artist Book?” as they discuss their tools, materials, and creative processes. With the popularity and anticipation of this exhibition there will be limited space, so come early!

NBG Artist-Led Docent Tours

Every Tuesday and Thursday of the exhibition, Artist Docents will give guided tours of the exhibit to guests. The tours are free and open to the public. For more information email:

ART-O-MAT

in Bear Gallery Gift Shop

“Artie” the Art-o-Mat machine will be in the Bear Gallery Gift Shop for the BOOKS AS ART 4 Exhibition. "Artie" will be stocked with very special NBG *limited edition* art --you don't want to miss these very gorgeous and very local book art treats! You'll have to come to the exhibition to find out what gorgeous NBG Book art is stocked---which include: the Alaskan Haiku Project and Margo's Magic Kinetic Illusion!

Local artists are encouraged to submit their art to the Art-O-Mat project. Your art can be stocked in the machine too!

Fairbanks Tall Timbers Series

The Fairbanks Tall Timber Series was created to honor those who are deeply rooted in the Fairbanks community. Join veteran newsman Robert Hannon either in person or via Zoom as he interviews NBG founder Margo Klass.

The Fairbanks Tall Timber Lecture Series is made possible by a generous contribution from Explore Fairbanks. The 2025 series takes place on Mondays from June 6 through August 4.
