A - PRESIDENT'S CORNER

"On: Now is the Time for the 48th!"

Luke 22:7

“Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”  - Luke 22:7 NIV

Okay! My thoughts are far reaching. At this writing, it’s Tuesday of Holy Week. You know the story, and the truth, of the “The Last Supper.” Jesus knew what was ahead of him. There would be no turning back. He was determined to fulfill his purpose for coming into the world. He fulfilled his purpose by suffering and dying on an old rugged cross. And was resurrected!

There are no theological comparisons between the Festival of Unleavened Bread and the 48th Biennial Conference of the NBPC. But it has given me thoughts about the 47th Conference and its success. I have been thinking about the sacrifices and contributions of many who are making the 48th Conference possible. Truly, it’s been almost two years since a very competent and professional team of volunteers, the 48th Biennial Meeting Planning Committee, have been sent to: “Go and make preparations.”

The prayerful approach to the preparations gives we comfort that the spirit of Christ Jesus, the Risen Lord, will be there. Good food will be there, more than bread and wine. Good worship and fellowship will be there. Good information, training and celebrations of significant individuals who have make great contributions to Black/African American Presbyterianism will be there. When Jesus chose that upper room, he chose enough space to accommodate ALL twelve Apostles. According to Luke 22:14, All had graduated from being Disciples.

The 48th Planning Committee chose Charlotte, North Carolina, June 19-21, 2025. The hotel? I visited it myself. It has enough room to accommodate All who will accept the invitation to come and be at the table. Here is my hopeful prayer, that whatever role you fulfill in your local congregation: Disciple, Apostle, Pastor, Elder, Deacon, Trustee, Young Adult, Youth and/or Active Member sitting in the pews on Sunday mornings, you will set your GPS for the 48th Biennial Conference of the NBPC.  Attendance at the 48th could and will resurrect personal commitments to Christ and even resurrect a congregation’s life.

You’ve finished reading? Go ahead. To the website. Register and make reservations now. Just like Resurrection Morning, when it is all said and done: “You’ll be glad you did!” Now is the Time for the 48th!

B - NBPC 48th BIENNIAL CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

This logo, commemorating the NBPC 48th Biennial, tells a story of solidarity and sacred strength. The expressive faces remind us of the power in truth-telling, the beauty of inclusivity, and the strength in unity. The flowing lines illustrate the divine tension between knowing the destination and trusting God through the unknown. In this shared space, we find direction not only in where we are going, but in who walks with us.

Overview of the

48th Biennial National Black Presbyterian Caucus Conference

By NBPC 48th Biennial Planning Committee

This 48th Biennial is welcoming over 250 attendees -- including clergy, congregants, educators, organizers, youth leaders, and justice seekers – those who labor with love, fueled by faith and committed to collective transformation. This conference is more than a meeting – it is a movement!

With hearts full of faith and purpose, members and friends of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus gather again for the sacred and powerful convening of the 48th Biennial National Black Presbyterian Caucus Conference. The conference, set in the vibrant city of Charlotte, NC, this year’s conference boldly proclaims a timeless truth: “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58). This rallying cry calls us to reflect on the eternal significance of our work in ministry, justice and community. Together we will be renewed in spirit, strengthened in purpose, and united in vision as Black Presbyterians from across the nation come together to celebrate, strategize, and soar.

You might ask, how will this 48th Biennial Conference benefit me? Here are 5 key actions this Biennial Conference will strive to accomplish:

  1. Spiritual Empowerment – To uplift every attendee with the reminder that their efforts matter eternally, and their labor is Never in vain.
  2. Community Engagement – To deepen our commitment to justice, vitality, and prophetic witness within our churches and neighborhoods.
  3. Leadership Development – To equip a new generation of change-makers and spiritual leaders to lead with courage, vision and faith.
  4. Fellowship and Renewal – To celebrate the beauty of belonging, of being seen and known, as we worship, laugh, pray, and learn together.
  5. Inspired Action – To ignite a fire for service, activism, and Christ-centered change that lasts far beyond these three days.

Throughout the conference, you will be inspired by Voices of Vision: Keynote Speakers and Special Guests. Leading theological minds, prophetic justice advocates, and powerful voices from the Black Presbyterian tradition will remind us that our work in the Lord reverberates through the generations.

The Transformative Workshops and Dynamic Sessions offered include:

  • The Power of Labor in ChristA rich theological dive into the scripture theme which is 1 Corinthians 15:58 and the call to faithful service.
  • Faith and Social Justice – Bridging the gospel and the streets: how faith drives real, lasting change.
  • Building Stronger Communities Through Faith – Equipping churches to be beacons of hope and hubs of transformation.
  • Leadership for the Future – Nurturing the next generation of prophetic leaders and visionaries.
  • Youth and Young Adult Engagement – Empowering tomorrow’s church with purpose, passion, and possibility.

The 48th Biennial National Black Presbyterian Caucus Conference will be a sanctuary for the soul and a launchpad for justice. Under the banner of “Your Labor in the Lord is Not in Vain,” we will rise – empowered by faith, driven by purpose, and united in spirit. This is our moment to be renewed. To lead boldly. To labor in love.

What we do in the Lord echoes into eternity!
