After sending out the previous
earlier today, I received clarification from the NC DHHS Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) regarding PPE (personal protective equipment).
As stated earlier, we have heard from a number of providers this week that are beginning to exhaust their supplies of PPE and are unable to obtain it from suppliers. NCSLA inquired with NCDHHS and was told the State Office of Emergency Medical Services (
OEMS) is working with the local
Health Care Coalitions
to allocate their resources of PPE to providers.
However, OEMS notified me this afternoon that while the Health Care Coalitions are responsible for allocating resources,
providers must request PPE through their local (county) emergency management agencies, which can be found
We are sorry for any confusion the previous communication may have caused.
Reducing resident exposure to individuals who are potentially infected with COVID-19 is of paramount importance since our residents are among the highest risk group for infection and mortality from this virus.
