Workforce Innovation

Tech talent challenges persist, requiring collaboration and innovation among education providers, private and nonprofit tech training programs, and employers to cultivate, identify, prepare, and retain a skilled workforce. Numerous innovative programs and initiatives in North Carolina address these challenges and foster tech workforce development.

NPower's Tech Fundamentals program recently celebrated its second graduation at North Carolina Central University (NCCU), achieving an impressive 100% certification rate with 38 graduates. Notably, by graduation day, over one-third of the graduates had secured employment or continued their education in tech—a remarkable success for the initiative. NPower is proving to be a vital resource for cultivating diverse, skilled tech talent in North Carolina. MetLife Foundation has provided a grant to Npower to accelerate more young people of color and veterans into tech careers.

MetLife Hackathon MetLife hosted its annual hackathon for employees to boost team building, creativity and product developments. Two women comprised the winning team and share their experiences both during the competition, and how it impacts their overall experience as a MetLife Employee.

SparkNC SparkNC partners with schools and business partners to create SparkLabs, where students can explore hands-on learning experiences in high-tech fields. The organization also collaborates with employers to sponsor the labs and provide students with real-world experiences, mentors, and opportunities to build durable skills.

It’s a supportive environment where women from various roles and levels come together for small group, peer-to-peer mentorship, networking, and skill development. Whether you're navigating the challenges of a new work environment or seeking encouragement from women who truly understand your journey, your Circle can provide the boost you need to thrive.
