NCA COR WORKSHOP SERIES

“I enjoyed this training session very much. I have gained the knowledge I require to assist me when I begin my COR four-element audit for my NCSO renewal. This presentation showed me the detail involved in completing this audit. Scott showed us the layout of the AUDITSOFT tool that all documentation is to be uploaded to. His training style is very informative and in a casual setting. Scott shared lots of information from his years of experience, I highly recommend attending his training sessions!”

“The workshop Facilitator, Mr. Halling is a huge asset to any company either already COR certified, in the process of or considering obtaining certification. His knowledge of the COR program was above and beyond my expectations. I am definitely looking forward to the remaining workshop training opportunities.”

The NCA successfully launched the COR Workshop Series on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, providing an engaging and informative session for industry professionals.

Held from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, the workshop offered valuable insights into the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program, equipping attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to enhance workplace safety and achieve COR certification. Participants benefited from expert guidance, interactive discussions, and practical strategies to implement in their organizations.

The positive feedback and high level of engagement highlighted the importance of this initiative in fostering a safer and more compliant construction industry.

The COR WORKSHOP SERIES returns on June 4th for the 2nd quarter session.

In 1984, the Canadian Labour Congress established April 28th as the National Day of Mourning in Canada to remember and honour those who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace.

The date was chosen in 1984, when the Canadian Labour Congress proclaimed the Day to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the day the first Ontario Worker's Compensation Act was approved by the government (1914). The Day of Mourning was enshrined in national legislation by an Act of Parliament on February 1, 1991.

The Day of Mourning, also known as Workers' Memorial Day, is officially recognized in about 100 countries worldwide.

Canadian flags on Parliament Hill and at Queen's Park fly at half-mast on April 28th. The day is traditionally marked in many ways including holding public ceremonies, wearing black and yellow ribbons, lighting candles, observing a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. and sharing stories about how workplace tragedies have touched peoples' lives.

Toolbox Talk: Safety Tips for Spring Construction

It is that time of year … winter has passed, and spring has finally sprung! In some regions, springtime means steady rain and other regions see snow melt, high winds and heat. Spring weather is unpredictable and to say the very least, bringing with it equally unpredictable safety hazards. Some of the most preventable construction hazards include slipping on wet surfaces, maneuvering equipment in changing conditions, and staying healthy in fluctuating temperatures. Slips and fall hazards quickly become a concern when the rising temperatures turn frozen dirt into mud. Read More

National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week

IHSA is promoting Struck-by Awareness Week from April 21 to 25 to help prevent struck-by incidents at workplaces across the province.

Ontario’s prevention system uses the term “struck-by” to describe the injuries that occur when workers are hit—or struck—by tools, materials, equipment, or vehicles. Just like falls, struck-by incidents are a leading cause of injuries and fatalities in the construction, transportation, electrical

utilities, and aggregates industries. Struck-by incidents are also preventable. Click Here
