WSIB Rate Framework 
All experience rating programs will come to an end and be replaced with a prospective rate-setting approach :
  • Starting with 2020 rates, six-year windows of claims experience will be used to set your individual rates

  • each edition of WSIB's Rate Framework newsletter will explain some key terms and concepts that will be used to set rates in 2020 to help you familiarize yourself with our new model (jargon busters!)

  • example scenarios are available to see how your 2020 premium rate is determined and how you will move towards your projected premium rate over time if your rates are projected to increase

  • monthly webinars are available, providing the latest updates, information on how to prepare for 2020 (upcoming dates include August 21 and September 18)

  • content or articles about the new model and how it will impact your members are available from the WSIB for your newsletters, trade magazine or website; information sessions for your members can also be arranged

MOL Summer Student Safety Inspection Blitz
Ontario’s Ministry of Labour is in the throes of a summer safety inspection blitz of workplaces with high numbers of new and young (summer student) workers. 

Inspectors will focus on workplaces newly registered with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and that haven't had a proactive health and safety visit within the last five years. The focus for inspections will be on retail, restaurant, food, beverage, hospitality and recreational services and runs until August 30.
