SEPTEMBER 1, 2025

Happy Labor Day

President's Message

Summer is winding down and with the approach of autumn, our plate is very full for the remainder for the year. Many activities and happenings are scheduled, and we hope we can count on your excitement to participate.

A special thank you to all members who have been supporting our efforts in keeping our gallery open and our programs running. It is important that the public knows we can react quickly, and professionally, during any crisis.

Impressive comments have been a daily reminder of fantastic support that continues to come from the public, as well as artists, kudos to everyone! Hopefully, we will be able to reveal a time schedule for occupying our gallery again, soon.

By now, I hope you have been sharing in the pride of this organization, the growth we have made in the past few years, and the joy of being a part of something larger then ourselves that lends to making us more visible to the community. It's what keeps the arts alive around us, and that which offers you an opportunity to share your art. We have a very talented group of artists, and you are recognized by the public, and proven valuable, as they keep returning to the gallery monthly. Fantastic!!!

At this time, we are merely asking you to use your communication talents during these challenging financial times, and show your support for the gallery by sharing the campaign, and using the tools we have provided on our website. Share with others on your social media, websites, and any other place you can think of. It will keep us sailing in the right direction toward home.

Remember every little bit helps everyone! It does take a village, so let's do it together,

With the kindest regards, Cheryl Ehlers

You might ask why we are doing this campaign?

COAL is fundraising for the extra assistance needed in order to support some of the reconstruction changes needed to replace the un-usable wall space, above the floor damage. Our hope is to correct the deficiencies so we can endure many more enjoyable years in the gallery.

About 30 years ago, this gallery was used as a storage space for the plaza, and over time, it has withstood four floods, and the gallery had three of them, along with numerous leak issues. (Obviously, none of this was expected, but the CB Village Faire buildings (circa 1984) requires much more upkeep, then the original Twin Inns property (1891). Hum... tells you something about old time construction.

Resolutions to addressing the current issues cannot be managed as in the past. Times have changed, regulations are strict, and we are proceeding as a team with SIMA Mgmt. with overall solutions and with a positive outlook.

We will keep you updated on the timelines as they change, and inform you of any schedules that might need to be adapted.

Thanks everyone for your patience. Go Team!!!!!

Congratulations to our 73rd BOS Artist, a Member!

The Gallery Managers' Messages, they keep us together.

Gertrude Lewis and Rachel Furnberg

Current Monthly August Visitors: 868 people

Current Sales as of August 16: With a week of closure over $3600 had been accrued, and we still have an additional 2 weeks of sales input to complete. Overall, we are doing well considering the circumstances, so please continue to spread the word of our temporary location to anyone that will listen. The rent still needs to be paid, and it all helps.

We understand that the temporary gallery can be a bit challenging for you to maneuver, but clearly the public is enjoying our presence there, so have fun while you are there, and all Hosting sales procedures remain the same.

Gertrude is there to assist you with opening and closing the gallery, as it has many moving parts that cannot be forgotten. Also, the map is at the desk, and has all the instructions for lights, etc. for opening and closing too. So take some time to review it.

  • Artists, when the Open Show is over, you may bring an extra piece for sale during September.
  • You need to provide your own easels, and take them home with you.
  • Please do not use the counter tops, back counters, or floors for any art displays.
  • Please store all personal items out of sight from the pubic.
  • Please only make your edits to the Calendar in the book after you have notified the Calendar Chair, Ellen Cramer. She keeps our online calendar live, and it requires providing all edits for us to be able to preview it. Thank you.
  • Remember to cut the tape off the credit card machine, and store those receipts in the zipped pouch in the drawer. (Keep it safe)

Thank you, everyone, for doing such a great job during these times. You are appreciated.

Thanks, Jarvis
