Winter Break Reminder

The North Caldwell Board of Education would like to remind everyone that Thursday, February 14th, is a one session day. School will be closed from Friday, February 15th through Tuesday, February 19th.  Classes will resume on Wednesday, February 20th. Have a wonderful and safe long weekend! 
Classroom Happenings: 

  • In anticipation for Book Fair, which was held the week of January 28th, Mrs. Zimmermann, with the help of Mrs. Jeffrey and Mrs. Burg, held a Bookmark Challenge contest at Gould School. The students were able to choose from 2 design choices. Design #1 was an original freehand drawing and Design #2 was created using a computer template.  Over 125 bookmarks were entered in the contest and the  first place winner for design choice #1 was Tommy O'Shaughnessy with his "Spiderman" creation and the runner up with "Falling for Books" was LeeAna Lojek. The winner of the computer design was Ila Eisenstein with her colorful "Read" bookmark. In addition to the bookmarks being showcased in the library for a month and available for all of the students to enjoy, each student also received a Follett Gift Card to be redeemed at the book fair.
  • The NCPE would like to thank the Gould Garden volunteers, Edie Davidson, Judith Dias, Jocelyn Kramer and Alex Mager, for donating their time to the garden. A plaque is now on display to celebrate their commitment.
  • Mrs. Armstrong's class learned about the four major phases of the moon by creating the phases with Oreo cookies.







  • Mrs. Norton's class participated in World Read Aloud Day on February 1st. Students from 3N volunteered to read a book to another class. This picture is from Mrs. Armstrong's class.  Thank you to all of the teachers and classes that participated!
