Area Center, District Office Closed Monday, June 19 for Juneteenth
On June 19, 1865, two-and-a-half years after the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect, federal troops under the command of Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas. They brought a life-changing message for the estimated quarter-of-a-million slaves in the state: “All slaves are free” and entitled to payment for their labor. This important day in history became known as Freedom Day, or Juneteenth, now a U.S. federal holiday.
In observance of Juneteenth, the East Ohio Conference office in North Canton and the North Coast District office in Independence will be closed on Monday, June 19.

Adults might not get away easily, but our kids can certainly enjoy camp time! The North Coast District is again offering camperships to those students who find the cost of camp is a financial hardship for their families. Please click on the application pictured or click here -- complete it (including your pastor's signature), and turn it into the District office at least 2 weeks prior to the start of camp (email or snail mail). The money will be sent directly to your home church for use to help defray part of the cost of camp.
