NEWS TO KNOW
EAST OHIO ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2019
From the EOC home page:

Bishop Tracy S. Malone presided over the 50th session of Annual Conference, which was held again this year at Lakeside Chautauqua on the shore of Lake Erie.

Annual Conference 2019 was the third conference centered on our quadrennial theme Bearing Fruit that Lasts: Called, Committed, Connected. This year we highlighted the joy of making a commitment to take up residence in God’s love and extend that love to others.

View each session in the live streaming archive here and view each Annual Conference 2019 sermon HERE .

On Saturday, June 29th , at least 3,000 members of the Greater Cleveland faith community will join together at Public Square to symbolically Stand In for the nearly 3,000 homeless children in our city. The evening will be hosted by The City Mission, but city leaders, officials, and other crisis agencies will participate by offering practical ways to get involved in the solution.

A significant portion of the night will be devoted to corporate worship and prayer, lifting up these children and their families, seeking the Lord’s guidance. This event will boldly demonstrate to Cleveland the church’s unified commitment to stand in the gap and meet our city’s needs.

Please consider inviting your congregations to participate! You can register yourself or your family HERE or register your group HERE .

Deadline extended for MTSO’s pledge to help UM candidates cover full seminary tuition

For a second academic year, Methodist Theological School in Ohio is helping candidates for United Methodist ministry cover their full seminary tuition. MTSO has just extended the deadline to July 15 for those who wish to apply and begin school in the coming Fall Semester.

“In the midst of challenging times for the church, our supporters continue to step up in faith to make it possible for us to ensure full tuition coverage for students pursuing United Methodist ministry,” said MTSO President Jay Rundell. “This has allowed us to extend our previous deadline for this pledge by two weeks.”

MTSO’s tuition pledge has two parts. First, the school’s financial aid experts will assist each applicant in locating and applying for scholarships from numerous sources. Second, if scholarships from those sources don’t cover an applicant’s full tuition, MTSO and its donors will make up the difference – dramatically reducing the financial burden of pursuing a graduate theological degree.

The pledge applies to every qualified prospective student who pursues United Methodist candidacy as an elder or deacon and applies to a master’s degree program by July 15 for the 2019-20 academic year.

Interested prospective students are invited to learn more by contacting an MTSO admissions counselor at 800-333-6876 or [email protected] .

Methodist Theological School in Ohio provides theological education and leadership in pursuit of a just, sustainable and generative world. In addition to the Master of Divinity degree, the school offers master’s degrees in counseling, theological studies and practical theology, along with a Doctor of Ministry degree.
