November

in-Review

Thanks was given all around this month, as the Resident Services Department hosted Thanksgiving Celebrations for residents at Casselman and Weeks House, as well as at the NCDF Youth Program.

Sandwich Works in Newton Centre catered turkey dinner for more than 75 residents at Casselman and Weeks House. Youth Program participants worked together to prepare their very own feast!

NCDF Youth Program participants also created festive cards to share well wishes with Weeks House residents and hand-delivered them on Thanksgiving Eve.

The Marc A. Slotnick Community Center

at Warren House

We are pleased to announce the opening of the Marc A. Slotnick Community Center at Warren House. A dedication was held on November 9th, where Marc's family, friends and former colleagues, as well as NCDF Board, Advisory and Staff members, gathered to honor Marc and all he did for the NCDF community.

Marc was the first NCDF Executive Director from 1969 to 1976 and remained an active board member until 1992. He returned to our Board of Directors in 2008 until his death in 2018. Marc had a long, rich history with NCDF therefore creating this much-needed community space in his name was a beautiful tribute.

The Marc A. Slotnick Community Center at Warren House opened for resident-use on November 13th and is already being regularly enjoyed and utilized by all. As well as being a common space to connect with one another, Resident Services expects to hold structured programs in the room beginning in the New Year and it will be the location of this month's community holiday celebration.

Thank you to the Slotnick Family, Alan Schlesinger and NCDF for making the creation of the first-ever community center at Warren House possible. It will be the heart of our community for years to come!
