NCDOT Provides Time Estimate on Repairs to Bridges on NC 211

During a virtual meeting with Brunswick County elected and appointed officials this morning, NCDOT provided the first estimated timeline for the repair/replacement of the bridges between St. James and Southport. NCDOT estimates that repairs to the bridge over Dutchman’s Creek will be completed by the end of October, depending on weather conditions. The Duke Canal bridge is scheduled to be completed by mid-October. The upcoming road improvements will guide traffic onto the newly constructed bridge as part of the NC 211 widening project. The Dutchman’s Creek bridge presents a greater challenge, as the existing structure must be dismantled before replacement work can begin. Again, this is only an estimate and timelines can change with additional storms during hurricane season.

The Town and Brunswick County Sheriff's Department encourage residents to visit the NCDOT site: www.drivenc.gov or the Brunswick County Sheriff's social media site to get the most up to date information on road conditions and detours.
