Harvey Public School
Welcome Mr. Strand!
Long-time Harvey Public School Superintendent, Mr. Dan Stutlien, is retiring this year. We have very much appreciated having him serve on our board and working with him over the years.

NCEC would like to welcome the incoming superintendent, Mr. Mitch Strand. Mr. Strand is currently the principal at Bowman Public School, and will officially begin his duties as Harvey Superintendent July 1, 2021. We look forward to working with you, Mr. Strand!

Literacy Coach PLC
The NCEC Literacy Coaches PLC continues to meet virtually. The next scheduled date is April 15th from 2:30-3:30 p.m.

The second training in the series will focus on children ages three to five years and their ability to hear sounds, recognize print, and develop their alphabet knowledge. The training will define phonological awareness, how it can be a part of everyday interactions with young children and that it is a crucial early step toward understanding the alphabetic principle and, ultimately, toward learning to read.

Wayne Callender Update
The Wayne Callender trainings are finishing up at all sites. It has been a busy and productive year! Next year's trainings are still in discussion, and plans will be shared once they are finalized.
SEL Taskforce Update
The region-wide task force is working on developing placement pathways and how those pathways will look in practice starting fall of 2021.
21st CCLC
NCEC 21st CCLC Program Receives Snap Circuits Kits
Thanks to the ND Afterschool Network and the the Million Girls Moonshot Initiative, NCEC now has two Snap Circuits kits for check out to your after school program.

Water Festival will be Virtual
The annual NCEC + DCB Water Festival sponsored by Project WET will be virtual this year.

Planning is still in progress at the state level, so NCEC will send out registration information as soon as it is available.
