MLS Teacher Named ND SPED Teacher of the Year
Mrs. Kalli Smith was named the ND SPED Teacher of the Year at an awards ceremony in Bismarck Feb 4th.

Mrs. Smith teaches Special Education for grades K-6 at MLS and is currently pursuing her Master's degree through NDSU.

"We at MLS are so proud of her and want to congratulate her on this prestigious accomplishment," said Mrs. Janet Asheim, Elementary Principal at MLS.

STEM Career Day will once again be held on the Dakota College at Bottineau campus on March 14, 2022.

The education day is open to grades 7-9, but numbers will be limited per school. Schools will attend either a morning or an afternoon block with lunch on your own.

Join the Million Girls Moonshot Flight Crew!
There are still 3 weeks left to join Million Girls Moonshot's inaugural Flight Crew!
 
The Flight Crew is a cohort of youth advocates, ages 13-18, who are committed to creating equity for girls in STEM by elevating youth voices and inspiring future STEM leaders. We are looking for young scientists, engineers, inventors, builders, and leaders who have been inspired by their experiences outside of the school classroom. Flight Crew members will participate in six months of virtual programming where they will hone their leadership and advocacy skills using their own experiences from afterschool STEM learning. Those selected will be eligible for a $1,000 stipend, an all-expense-paid trip to the annual Million Girls Moonshot summer 2022 event, and thanks to our partners, an all-expense-paid opportunity to go to Space Camp for summer 2023.
 
The Flight Crew application is open to youth ages 13 to 18 who identify as female, gender-expansive, or outside of the identity of cis-gender male. Applicants will share their views in a written, video, or art piece. Applications are due February 25, 2022Apply here
 
The Afterschool Alliance is running the Flight Crew program for Million Girls Moonshot, whose mission is to engage one million girls in STEM learning opportunities through afterschool and summer programs.

Free Virtual Science Webinars
Bring the wonder of the Museum of Science direct to your classroom with exclusive live presentations from Museum educators. The new MOS at School programming features real-time, virtual interactions plus asynchronous experiences sure to spark excitement and discovery in every K – 8 classroom.

Programs are presented via Zoom, free of charge, and include standards-aligned topics from earth, space, and life sciences. These events offer your students the opportunity to explore emerging science topics, attend live panels with subject-matter experts, ask questions, and more!
 
These virtual events are FREE of charge for educators.

National School Counseling Week 2022 (#NSCW22) is Feb. 7-11, 2022, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors.

National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

The 2022 theme is School Counseling: Better Together. Check out the lineup of events for the week.
