Mrs. Ally Liebelt Named
Bottineau County Teacher of the Year
State School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler celebrated 40 North Dakota educators who are being honored as Teachers of the Year in the counties in which they work. Mrs. Ally Liebelt, a third grade teacher at Westhope Public School, was named the Bottineau County Teacher of the Year.

The County Teachers of the Year were chosen from among 110 educators who were nominated, of whom 81 completed applications to be considered.

Congratulations, Mrs. Liebelt! You are an asset to your school, your community, and the 21st CCLC Afterschool program!

NCEC believes that all schools within the region should have access to materials to make the implementation of an SEL program a sustainable reality.

The materials available have been developed specifically for the Resource Center or adapted from research founded materials to meet the needs of the schools within our region.

21st CCLC
Bottineau 21st CCLC Program Starts Archery Club
After connecting with a NASP (National Archery in Schools Program) certified instructor, the Bottineau Elementary School 21st CCLC program was able to start an Archery Club this spring.

The club includes 4th and 5th grades and met for six weeks starting in March.

Scheels Sporting Goods in Minot donated $50 to the club to help get them started.

Interest in the club has helped grow the program enrollment by 17 students.
ND Afterschool Quality Standards Feedback Session May 19, 2021
The ND Afterschool Network has been working with a panel of educational professionals to develop a set of quality standards for ND out of school time programs.

Join the ND Afterschool Network on May 19, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 am CT for an open forum to learn about the first quality standards for school-age, out-of-school time programs in North Dakota. Participants will have the opportunity to review a final draft of the standards and provide comments or feedback before the publication is released in June 2021.

The ND Afterschool Network, the ND Council on the Arts and NESC ConnectEd have partnered to offer a virtual summer arts program. Each lesson is led by a ND Council on the Arts teaching artist and will span two days, 30 minutes each day.

Water Festival is Back!
May 17 & 18 at DCB
After an abrupt hiatus in 2020, Dakota College at Bottineau has approved holding the Water Festival Education Day in-person on campus May 17 & 18. Masks will be required.

The event will be scaled down to allow for smaller group sizes and social distancing of school groups.

The annual event teaches 5th and 6th graders about water science, conservation, and best management practices by demonstrating how water interacts with humans and the natural environment within North Dakota’s watersheds.
