NCEE leads a statewide initiative advancing economic and financial literacy.
Welcome Haley Baehr!
New Curriculum Spotlight!
The Ethics, Economics, and Social Issues curriculum project started as a passion project for Dr. Jamie Wagner and Dr. Jennifer Davidson. The project came alive thanks to grants from the Kazanjian Foundation, Council for Economic Education, the Nebraska Council on Economic Education, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha Center for Economic Education. Thank you to the authors who have created engaging, exciting, and high-quality lessons and to the teachers across the country who piloted these lessons in their classrooms.

These Consumer Financial Protection Bureau resources align activities with each standard from both the Nebraska BMIT Personal Finance course and the Economics social studies standards. There is at least one activity per indicator. To visit these activities or for more information, follow the link.
NCEE Partnered with FTE
on Teacher Professional Development
Teachers participating in the activities provided by Jamie and John.
NCEE partnered with FTE and presented the Federal Federal Budget, Debt, and Deficits to 23 teachers at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. A big thanks to our Director of the Center for Economic Education in Omaha, Dr. Jamie Wagner and John Kessler from FTE for organizing the event. It was an exciting day full of learning and activities.
Western Nebraska Bank
Western Nebraska Bank has opened 5 in school savings programs this year!

This school year Western Nebraska Bank has partnered with the Nebraska Council on Economic Education and five area schools to open in-school savings programs:

  • Lake Maloney Elementary, North Platte
  • Madison Elementary, North Platte
  • Sandhills Public School, Halsey
  • North Platte Catholic, North Platte
  • Paxton Public School, Paxton

The goal of the program is to provide students the opportunity to practice saving as a habit, to learn how financial institutions operate, and to learn about banking as a potential career.

The In the School Savings Program has been in Nebraska schools for over two decades. It is an excellent example of a true partnership between the school, University, and local financial institution coming together to create a real-world experience for students.

Kudos to Western Nebraska Bank for their investment in the students of Nebraska.
