Press Conference & Proclamation Signing at the Capitol
On April 13, we participated in the press conference and proclamation signing where Governor Pillen officially declared April as Financial Awareness Month. Over 100 student tellers from several of our In School Savings Programs attended the proclamation, participated in a tour of the Capitol and visited the Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance office for some engaging financial activities.

On grand opening day, the Next Generation Branch received 29 deposits totaling $199.64. Generations Bank matched $122.91, the Exeter-Milligan School Foundation matched $145, and the American Legion Auxiliary (Exeter) matched $58 for a grand total of $525.55 in student savings. This is a wonderful example of a strong partnership and a community that cares about the future of its students.
Funding the Future, Financial Literacy Concerts
Valentine & Sidney
“Financial Literacy is Latin for Freedom “   — Carter Hulsey
NCEE partnered with Funding the Future to bring Carter Hulsey to Nebraska to perform two financial literacy concerts at Valentine (March 8) and Sidney (March 14) high schools. We reached a total of 520 students with this unique and exciting delivery mechanism.
Spring Economics Challenge Winners!
Every year, NCEE hosts the Economics Challenge, which is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge of economics by competing, in two divisions, with other students across the state in an online competition. The top scoring teams are invited to the state championships where they must further demonstrate their economics prowess to be named the state champion team and represent Nebraska at the national level. We had 1300 students participate. Omaha Skutt and Creighton Prep earned top spots and are advancing to the national competition.
Spring Finance Challenge Winners!
The Finance Challenge State Finals tasks students with working as a team to create a financial plan for our hypothetical family. Team have two hours to work before presenting their plans to our expert judges. Over 1,900 students participated in the preliminary rounds of the competition. The team from Ravenna earned the top spot and will represent Nebraska at the national competition held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland on June 4-5.
