May is a month of giving for Lincoln and we are proud to call Lincoln our home base. Already this year we reached over 16,000 Nebraskans with over 110,000 contact hours of good economic and financial literacy education. Please consider donating to NCEE to help us spread our mission to even more people in the upcoming year! Every year we work with hundreds of Nebraska educators. Every teacher we reach spreads their knowledge to HUNDREDS of students each year. The multiplier effect is the best investment of your scarce resources to reach the most students across the state.

The Finance Challenge State Finals tasks students with working as a team to create a financial plan for our hypothetical family. The team has two hours to work before presenting their plans to our expert judges. Over 2,200 students participated in the preliminary rounds of the competition. The team from Ravenna earned the top spot and represented Nebraska at the national competition held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.

Every year, NCEE hosts the Economics Challenge, which is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge of economics by competing, in two divisions, with other students across the state in an online competition. The top-scoring teams are invited to the state championships where they must further demonstrate their economic prowess to be named the state champion team and represent Nebraska at the national level. We had 1250 students participate. Millard North and Waverly earned top spots and competed in the national competition.

Stellar Teller Day: Omaha
|
The amazing Omaha Fed hosted us to recognize some of our best student tellers from around the state. We had over 120 tellers in attendance. They were treated to a talk from Nate Kauffman, Senior Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of KC. Then they learned about the security features of money with Erin Redemske, Director of Public Affairs of the Federal Reserve, Omaha Branch. Lindsay Tillinghast, UNL Center Director, used the Bean Game to get students thinking about their budgets. Matt Pierson then led them in some teller races challenging speed and accuracy of counting coins. We ended with each branch selecting one teller to recognize as their stellar teller for the year.

Nationally known author of over 125 children's books, Julia Cook, presented her newest book I am Money to the Kearney student tellers. Students were engaged in a lively reading of the book including activities! Each student
left with a signed copy of the book. The day concluded with Teller Races and each branch presenting their star teller for the year! Our President, Jennifer Davidson, and UNK
Center Director Alyse Pflanz hosted the day.
