Proclamation Signing

October was again declared Economic Education Month in Nebraska. The team at NCEE was honored to receive the proclamation from Governor Pillen in a ceremony in the Warner Chamber at the Nebraska State Capitol. Econ Ed Month is part of a national initiative celebrated across the country.

Funding the Future - Financial Literacy Concerts

Omaha Bryan Middle School & Ravenna High School

NCEE partnered with Funding the Future to bring Carter Hulsey to Nebraska to perform two financial literacy concerts at Omaha Bryan Middle School (October 7) and Ravenna High School (October 8) high schools. We reached a total of 860 students with this unique and exciting delivery mechanism. 

Wayne State College Business Competition

Champion: Broken Bow

2nd place: Arlington

3rd place: Fremont

On October 9, 2024, 197 high school students from 16 different schools competed at the Wildcat Business Invitational at Wayne State College. Students competed in two testing rounds with options to compete in accounting, business calculations, business communication, economics, FBLA, introduction to business, introduction to financial math, job interview, and personal finance. Students also toured the campus and experienced lunch in a college dining hall.

BMIT Workshops

In October, NCEE, in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Education, hosted lunch for BMIT (Business, Marketing, and Information Technology) teachers across Nebraska. With meetings in Kearney, Norfolk, and Omaha. In attendance were 110 Nebraska teachers. The council sponsored lunch for the teachers and then presented lessons from our new “Realities of Gambling” curriculum that will be available soon!  

Longhorn Branch In School Savings Program

Congratulations to FirsTier Bank on the September 5th grand opening of the in-school savings program at Kimball Public Schools. The program has achieved a remarkable participation rate with 71% of the student body returning their signed permission slips. On the first deposit day, 49 students made a deposit. Total deposits were $563.98, and with the bank match, students at Kimball saved $803.35 on day one!

Tiger Branch In School Savings Program

Congratulations to Security Bank on the September 18th grand opening of the in-school savings program at Osmond Community Schools. On the first deposit day, 52 students made a deposit. Total deposits were $265, and with the bank match of $242, students at Osmond saved $507 on day one!

Tiger Branch In School Savings Program

Congratulations to First Nebraska Bank on the grand openings of the in-school savings program at East Butler Public Schools of Dwight (October 17) and Brainard (October 18). On the first deposit day at Brainard, 40 students made a deposit and at Dwight, 25 students made a deposit. Total deposits were $388 at Brainard and $212 at Dwight, students at East Butler Public Schools saved $600 on day one!

Bobcat Branch In School Savings Program

Congratulations to Nebraska Bank on the October 8th grand opening of the in-school savings program at Hemingford Elementary School. On the first deposit day, 44 students made a deposit. Students at Hemingford saved $471 on day one!

Next Generation Branch In School Savings Program

Congratulations to Generations Bank on the October 22nd grand opening of the in-school savings program at Friend Elementary School. On the first deposit day, 24 students made a deposit. Total deposits were $176, and with the bank match of $96, students at Friend saved $272 on day one!

Wildcat Branch In School Savings Program

Congratulations to Community State Bank on the October 23rd grand opening of the in-school savings program at Cedar Bluffs Public School. On the first deposit day, 30 students made a deposit. Total deposits were $297, and with the bank match of $218 students at Cedar Bluffs saved $515 on day one!

Bluejay In School Savings Program

Congratulations to Town and Country Bank on the November 1st grand opening of the in-school savings program at Ravenna Public Schools. On the first deposit day, 48 students made a deposit. Students at Ravenna saved $272 on day one!
