Reiser Economic Educator of the Year
Shawna Koger
Dr. Jamie Wagner, Mary Lynn Reiser, Shawna Koger, and Dr. Jennifer Davidson
Mrs. Koger, a 30 year teaching veteran, embodies what a teacher should be: kind, holds her students to a high standard, is wildly creative, and provides engaging economic and personal finance content for students.
She gives so much of herself, so much of her personal time to ensure her students benefit from academic extracurricular activities and experiences. She has not only ensured her students participate in the Economics Challenge, the Finance Challenge, and the Stock Market Game competitions, her students are often state finalists. This is a testament to the high-quality instruction going on her classroom.
Her work to ensure her FBLA students get leadership experience with the In School Savings Program is unparalleled. Arlington was the first in school savings program where FBLA students serve as tellers and mentors to the elementary grade depositors. This successful program is a model for other programs who have since started an FBLA led program.
Simply put, Shawna is an outstanding leader in everything she pursues. She always goes over and beyond to successfully guide others, especially her students, to achieve great things. Huge congratulations to Shawna on this well-deserved recognition.

We want to thank our UNO Center Director, Dr. Jamie Wagner, for being the project manager on this monumental task.
