Here are some highlights from Fall 2023.
October is Economic Education Month
October was again declared Economic Education Month in Nebraska. The team at NCEE was honored to receive the proclamation from Governor Pillen in a short ceremony in the Warner Chamber at the Nebraska State Capitol. Econ Ed Month is part of a national initiative celebrated across the country.
NDBF Challenge Coins

Nebraska Department of Banking & Finance, Director, Kelly Lammers presented NDBF Challenge Coins to members of NCEE. The coin is reserved for recognition of people contributing significantly to the promotion, support, and awareness of Nebraska financial solutions. It was an extreme honor to be recognized in this way.
Family Financial Fun Nights

Thank you to JP Morgan Chase for sponsoring Family Financial Fun Nights at Forest Station Elementary and Clinton Elementary. Over 300 families and students came through our stations to do fun financial-based activities. After they completed all five activities they received and enjoyed dinner with their family. Thank you to all our volunteers for your help and the schools for welcoming us!  
Econ by the Pint
UNK Center for Economic Education partnered with Kearney Area Young Professionals Network and NCEE to host the inaugural Econ by the Pint held at Thunderhead Brewing Company. Attendees took part in engaging economic activities and learned about Nebraska's craft brewing industry and its impact on the Nebraska economy.
Economics & Accounting Day

Matt Pierson presented on the topic of economics.
The Lincoln Center hosted an Economics and Accounting Day sponsored by Lutz and the Nebraska Society of CPAs. Over 140 students from eight schools participated in sessions related to Economics, Personal Finance, and Accounting. Students also heard from staff and students at the CliftonStrengths Institute and a Career Panel with faculty from the UNL College of Business and NCEE Board Member, Zac Holoch, President and CEO of Cornerstone Bank. Students were able to expand their knowledge and understanding of these content areas and see possible career paths.

Lincoln Center Director, Lindsay Tillinghast held the largest trade game at Lincoln Standing Bear High School. 250 students participated to learn the benefits of voluntary trade in an economy during Econ Ed Month.

On October 6, 2023, 185 high school students competed in the seventh annual UNO CBA High School Business Competition. Students competed in two testing rounds including accounting, business math, economics, entrepreneurship, intro to business, intro to IT, marketing, management information systems, and personal finance. The first-place winner in each category won a $1,000 scholarship to the UNO College of Business Administration!

On October 18, 2023, 200 high school students from 14 different schools competed at the Wildcat Business Invitational at Wayne State College. Students competed in two testing rounds including, accounting, business calculations, business communication, economics, FBLA, introduction to business, introduction to financial math, job interview, and personal finance. Students also toured the campus and experienced lunch in a college dining hall.
