Celebrating Economic Education Month!
NE State Treasurer John Murante, NCEE Executive Board member John Gessert, UNK Economic Center Director Alyse Pflanz, NCEE President Jennifer Davidson, NCEE Executive Board member David Dickinson, Governor Pete Rickets and NCEE Executive Board member Brett Ebert look on as the Governor proclaims Economic Education Month in Nebraska. (Left to Right)
Economics is all about decision-making. Why do people choose what they do? People generally think it is all about money, but it is so much more than that. Economics is broadly applicable in the exploration of people, choices and incentives. The magic of understanding economics is it helps you see the hidden side of everything – seeing the unseen. It’s a superpower!

Join us as we explore why economics and economic education is important through workshops, information and resources--take a look at our event landing page HERE

Financial Literacy Concerts Series
Returns to Nebraska
Financial Literacy Concerts returned to Nebraska this fall. We were able reach 650 high school students and support concerts at Auburn, Hershey (Sutherland also attended) and Lincoln’s Career Academy. The concerts, or school assemblies, are a unique and engaging way to bring an important financial literacy message to today’s students. After playing a few high energy songs, Carter Hulsey, who has played every House of Blues in America, talked to students about the importance of saving, how compound interest works, and how making wise financial decisions is a step to fulfilling your dreams. Please contact us if you would like to host an event or help sponsor an event.

Teacher Professional Development
Lots of great lessons, activities and information was shared at the Using Pop Culture Media to Teach Economics workshop held in Omaha October 23. Omaha Center Director Dr. Jamie Wagner organized the day with special guest presenter Dr. Jadrian Wooten, Associate Professor of Economics at Penn State, and assistance from our own Matt Pierson from Bryan High School. Be on the lookout for announcements regarding our upcoming teacher development opportunities.
NCEE president Jennifer Davidson attended the six BMIT Fall Workshops across Nebraska where she demonstrated inflation and talked media literacy using inflation as an example. NCEE sponsored lunch at all six locations. We always look forward to the opportunity to see our amazing Nebraska educators!
