New MetLife Contact for HBRs

Our MetLife contact (for HBRs), Carl Ripberger, has retired effective April 1, 2020. Our new contact for MetLife is now Mary Faile. Mary's info can be found on page 10 of the NCFlex Admin Manual .

Please note, the best email to contact Mary is the same email Carl used - [email protected] . This email is used by Mary, but in her absence can be monitored by other team members. Please also note that Kim Moore with MetLife still remains the billing contact.
EOI for Group Term Life

During Open Enrollment for the 2020 plan year, a configuration issue within Benefitfocus caused certain changes on Group Term Life not to pend EOI when they should have. These cases were recently identified and EOI forms have now been issued to the members.

Please note, once an employee receives an EOI form, this can be completed at any time. Although it says they have 60 days, if it is completed after 60 days it will still be considered. However, if a medical exam is required, this has to be performed within 30 days of the EOI completion, or another EOI will have to be done.

Therefore, if an employee does not feel comfortable at this time going out of their home or having someone come into their home to receive this exam, it is recommended that they wait to complete the EOI until a later date.

Keep in mind, the pending Life insurance amount will not go into effect until all required steps of the EOI have been completed and approved by Voya.

Voya prefers for these exams to be performed by APPS (American Para Professional Systems) and an employee would be given the below information if this exam is requested.

CARES Act Reinstates Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medications as FSA Eligible

Part of the CARES Act that was recently passed has reinstated the coverage for Over-the-Counter (OTC) medications and menstrual care products for reimbursement from Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). Participants of the NCFlex Health Care FSA can purchase these items with the funds from their HCFSA without a prescription.

This change is effective for items purchased on or after January 1, 2020. Merchants will need to update their systems for these items to be recognized when using the NCFlex convenience card. However, in the meantime, participants can save their receipts and file manual claims for these items.

Claims can be filed with a paper form , online at ncflex.padmin.com , or from a mobile device .

Once we are made aware that the NCFlex convenience card will work for these purchases, we will notify members.
