An Important Message for NC Health Benefit Representatives

August 2022

NCFlex Guides and Train the Trainer Sessions

Earlier this month we sent out an HBR Alert with information on Train the Trainer sessions in September and how to order new guides. If you haven't already done so, take a moment to review the alert for this important information.

Email [email protected] with any questions.

August is National Eye Exam Month

In this month's EyeMed newsletter, you can view special offers for NCFlex Vision plan participants such as free blue light lens upgrade, 40 percent off a second pair of prescription glasses from participating in-network providers, and more.

The newsletter also offers information on National Eye Exam Month. Celebrate by scheduling an eye exam if you haven't already done so this year!

To learn more about the vision benefits through NCFlex, visit our Vision webpage, or view the most recent NCFlex employee session focused on vision coverage through EyeMed.

Miles for Wellness is a virtual, team-based walking initiative by and for the state employees of North Carolina. The purpose of Miles for Wellness is to encourage and support employees to increase their level of physical activity, with the goal of 10,000 steps, or the equivalent of 5 miles, achieved most days of the week. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health.

Mobile Dentistry

MetLife (the vendor for NCFlex Dental) partners with multiple mobile dentistry vendors, such as Jet Dental and Henry the Dentist, to provide another option for participating members to visit a dentist, especially those with few options in their area. These mobile units can provide a full range of General dentistry services including cleanings, x-rays, exams, fillings, crowns, night guards, cosmetic whitening, and orthodontic aligners.

To learn more about mobile dentistry and determine whether it would be beneficial to your participating employees, reach out to Mary Faile at [email protected] or 770-407-2594.

Note that most mobile dentistry vendors schedule appointments 60-90 days out, so employees would need to plan accordingly. Ideally, they would want to be able to identify 25 confirmed appointments with the ability to see upwards of 40-60 members per day. We hope this feature is one that some of you can find useful for your employees.
