Remind Employees to Check Benefit Deductions

January paystubs for your employees would show the first NCFlex deductions for the 2021 plan year. Remind employees to check their paystubs for accuracy (rate sheets for 2021 can be found HERE).

If your employee(s) feel there was an error made during Open Enrollment, they should contact you, their HBR/UBA, to see if an exception request is warranted. As HBRs/UBAs, it is your decision whether or not to submit exceptions on an employee's behalf. Whether you agree with the employee or not, always include all details you feel are relevant to the exception request for NCFlex's consideration.

To submit an exception, complete the exception form on the  NCFlex HBR Webpage. Include all pertinent details to help us process your exception as quickly and accurately as possible.

NCFlex will accept Open Enrollment exception requests through March 15. Dependent Day Care exceptions will still be considered after this date if an employee enrolled in the DDCFSA in error.
Flexible Spending Accounts - IRS Provisions

Some of you are aware that in December, former President Trump signed the COVID-19 Relief Act of 2020 which included provisions that employers could adopt providing flexibility for Flexible Spending Accounts. NCFlex is working with P&A to finalize the provisions that will be adopted and the timeline for implementing. Once all final pieces are in place, we will notify HBRs/UBAs with the details and timeline prior to notifying employees.
NCFlex 2021 Calendars

For the first time, NCFlex has issued calendars to all participating members of our plans. The calendar contains several features including:
  • Information about the NCFlex benefits, featuring a different benefit each month
  • Critical date reminders
  • Pixaction, a scan feature which allows employees to view product videos directly from their mobile device

You can view the calendar on our main page at www.ncflex.org. Some employees may not receive the calendar if their address was incorrect in Benefitfocus or if they were hired recently.

We printed extra calendars for you to order for new hires. The calendars are available to order (HERE).

Critical Illness and Accident Plan Participants - 1099 Forms

If an employee was paid a benefit from their Critical Illness or Accident Plan in 2020 over $600, they will receive a 1099 from Allstate (for Critical Illness) or Voya (for Accident). If receiving a 1099 for the Accident plan, please note they may receive two copies, one copy is for their records.

Employees should consult a tax professional on how to incorporate these forms when filing taxes and whether the benefit is taxable.
Please share your feedback

We shared this survey in December but would like to share it one last time for anyone who did not get a chance to complete.

We'd love to hear from you on what worked and what didn't last year and how we can better help you help your employees in the future.
