An Important Message for NC Health Benefit Representatives

NCFlex Resources for New Employees
There are often challenges when communicating available benefits to new employees. To help new employees understand their benefits, NCFlex has a dedicated webpage for new employees who may need more information. There they will find NCFlex product videos, enrollment guides, webinars and other resources to help them make informed decisions about their coverage.

NCFlex pulls emails of new hires weekly to reach newly eligible employees directly. These employees have the option to opt-out of the New Hire email. If they do not opt-out, they will receive our monthly newsletter with important updates and reminders on NCFlex benefits. We attempt to reach as many employees as possible to help educate them on what's available.

If you have and suggestions or additions for our communications, please reach out to us at [email protected].
Dependent Day Care Qualifying Life Events
painted_colorful_hands.jpg
If an employee's situation with dependent daycare changes and they need to adjust their contributions, they may be eligible to complete a life event in the Benefits Enrollment System.

Some situations that may qualify:
  • Child care/adult daycare stops
  • Child care/adult daycare starts (such as summer camp or when a parent goes back to work after the birth of a child)
  • Child care/adult daycare costs change (such as a child starts kindergarten and before and/or after-school care is less than full-time daycare or camp)
  • Employee's spouse stops working

Documentation is required. For a daycare change, the employee may provide written proof from the dependent daycare provider stating the change in cost or enrollment status OR complete the NCFlex DDCFSA Qualifying Life Event Form.

Remind employees that the new election amount applies to the entire plan year, not only going forward. For instance, if an employee originally chose $5,000 for 2022 and now changes that election effective August 1 to $4,000 for 2022, this would be for January 1 - December 31, 2022. If the employee has already contributed $2,916, they only need to contribute an additional $1,084. If they have plenty of funds for the remainder of the year, they can simply cancel the plan going forward.

If employees are enrolled in the Core or Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) benefit through NCFlex, they also have a travel assistance benefit available at no cost. This benefit offers pre-trip information providing employees with up-to-date travel information such as travel/tourist advisories, emergency personal services, and emergency transportation services when traveling more than 100 miles away from home.

View this flyer for more information about the Voya Travel Assistance benefit. There is also a section designed to be cut out and kept on hand during travel, in case of emergency.
