An Important Message for NC Health Benefit Representatives
June 2022
Preparing for 2023 Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment for the 2023 plan year will be October 10th - 28th. As in previous years, we will hold Health Benefits Representative (HBR) training in the month leading up to enrollment. This year, we plan to hold sessions both in person and virtually. More details will be shared in July and August.

For 2023, NCFlex expected changes include:
  • Changes to the Cancer and Critical Illness plans
  • The addition of a Limited Purpose Health FSA for employees whose spouse is enrolled in an HSA
  • Higher yearly max on the Health Care FSA and a higher roll-over amount
  • New High Accident plan with a higher level of benefits (the old Accident plan will still be available and will be called the "Low" plan)
  • Dental and Disability rate changes

If you are interested in an NCFlex team member visiting your location for a Benefits Fair, Employee Session, enrollment help, or something else, please complete our Site Visit Request form.

2023 Enrollment Guide orders will be available starting in August. We will share the link once it is available for pre-order. 2022 Enrollment Guides can still be ordered from our HBR page through the end of August.
Accident Claims - Helping Guide Employees
Employees who have the Accident plan through NCFlex could be owed a benefit if they or their covered family members experience a qualifying accident and seek medical attention. If you know of an employee who has this benefit and experienced an accident, remind them to file a claim. Some benefits have a time limit.

The NCFlex Accident plan covers accidents on or off the job. Employees can use this benefit payout for anything they'd like, not just medical bills*.

To access a claim form, learn how to file a claim, or understand more about how this benefit works, visit https://oshr.nc.gov/documents/ncflex-accident-documents.

*Employees should still file their health insurance when they seek medical attention. The Accident plan is not health insurance. It is a supplemental benefit paid directly to the covered member for a qualifying claim.
July and August NCFlex Employee Sessions
NCFlex MetLife Dental and EyeMed Vision
In July we will feature NCFlex MetLife Dental and compare the three plans. We will also demonstrate how to find an in-network provider, get reviews, set appointments and view EOBs and claims online.

For August, we will feature the NCFlex vision plan through EyeMed. We'll talk about how the plan works, vision wellness, common lens enhancements and materials and member tools and savings.

Employees can register on our Webinars webpage. We will also post the recording on the Webinars Page after the event.
Visit our HBR Webpage for newsletter archives (HBR and Member) from the last six months, guide orders, exception form, and more.
