An Important Message for NCFlex Participants

February 2023

Easily Access your Dental, Vision, and FSA Account

Directly link to your P&A Flexible Spending Account, MetLife Dental, or EyeMed Vision Care through your enrollment portal. These Single Sign On links can be useful when trying to view claims, account balances and view or order benefit cards.

Visit https://www.shpnc.org/ebenefits and choose the employer link best for you, then log in (for university employees, log into the eBenefits portal). You'll see links to your NCFlex accounts under "Quick Links" to the left. Simply click on the link for the account you want to see, and if you are enrolled in one of these benefits, you will be automatically connected to your account without having to log in.

By monitoring your accounts, you can better understand the available balance and benefits you have for the 2023 plan year. As a reminder, all three of these benefits also have mobile apps for any time, anywhere.

FSA Filing Deadline

dollar_steel.jpg

Participants of the Health Care and Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Accounts have until  March 31 to submit 2022 claims dated January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022 for HCFSA and March 15, 2023 for DDCFSA claims.

March 31 is also the deadline to submit 2021 claims. The claims filing deadline was extended for the 2021 plan year due to the COVID outbreak. HCFSA claims for 2021 must be dated within 2021 and DDCFSA claims must be dated January 1, 2021 - December 31, 2022 (the grace period for this plan was also extended due to the outbreak).

Claims can be uploaded online at  www.padmin.com/ncflex  (see How to Upload Your FSA Claim   for more details), via the P&A mobile app or a claim form can be completed and faxed or mailed (contact information is on the form).

Not sure if you still have claims to file? Reference the first article in the newsletter, which will show you how to sign into different accounts to view EOBs which may show money you owed out-of-pocket for medical, dental or vision.

Over-the-counter COVID Tests

Currently, BCBS covers up to eight over-the-counter COVID tests each month, which you can pick up at your local pharmacy. If you are not familiar with how to receive these tests at no cost, speak with a pharmacist and they should help.

Beginning May 11, 2023, these tests will no longer be covered by BCBS due to the COVID emergency order expiring on this date. Consider obtaining a few tests before May 11. Once they are no longer covered by BCBS, you can still use your Health Care FSA funds for the purchase of these tests. Keep in mind, COVID testing by a provider will still be covered at 100% by BCBS even after the emergency order expires.
