An Important Message for NCFlex Participants
November 2021
NCFlex Webinar Opportunities -
Term Life and Accident
This month we are discussing our Term Life plan through Voya. Did you know the Group Term Life plan includes free benefits such as funeral planning services for you or a loved one? This benefit also includes an accelerated death benefit and disability waiver of premiums.

Learn about these features as well as continuation options of the plan, during one of our November sessions:
In December we will discuss our Accident plan through Voya (this is different than our Accidental Death and Dismemberment plan). Did you know that this plan pays out money directly to you due to common injuries resulting from an accident? It also includes a sports rider which can pay an extra 25% if the accident occurred during an organized sporting activity.

Learn about how this plan works during one of our December sessions:
Whether you currently have the plans, are eligible to enroll (as a new hire or have had a life event recently), or don't have the plans and are looking forward to next open enrollment, join us to learn more.

Register on our Webinar Page or from the above links. We will also post the recordings on the Webinar Page after the event. Bookmark the page for later use.

Please email us at [email protected] with any questions.
NCFlex Coverage Continuation at Separation

NCFlex benefits are sponsored by the state. If you transfer within state government to another agency, university, select community college or select charter school, your NCFlex benefits transfer with you. Also, if you leave employment, most of these plans have options to continue coverage either at the same rate you pay as an employee or a small percentage more.

Thinking about retirement soon? Make sure you know your options when you leave. The following chart lists each plan and continuation options that are available: Continuation of Coverage through NCFlex

Have additional questions? Reach out to us at [email protected]. Want to know more about the Health Care FSA when you leave? Check out our Webinars page where you can find a recent member session on Flexible Spending Accounts as well as corresponding slides (see slide 12 for info on what happens to this account when you leave employment).
Flexible Spending Account FAQs for 2022

2022 may be your first time trying out an FSA, or maybe you've used one for years and still have questions. Take a look at the FAQ document for 2022 FSAs provided by P&A Group.

To learn even more, visit the FSA section on www.ncflex.org.
Reminder - DDCFSA Deadline Approaching
Although the NCFlex Health Care Flexible Spending Account uses a carry forward feature, the Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account follows a grace period as in previous years. This grace period, however, was extended for 2020 and 2021 plan years from March 15 to December 31 (of the following year).

If you participated in the DDCFSA for 2020, you have until December 31 to incur expenses on any left over 2020 funds, and until April 30, 2022 to file claims for your 2020 account.

Information on eligible DDCFSA items can be found in the  NCFlex Enrollment Guide. The NCFlex FSA Claims Kit, claims form, and details of how to upload a claim can be found in the FSA section of the NCFlex website.
Virtual Benefits Fair - Thank you!

Thank you to everyone that joined our virtual benefits fair (through Airbo, courtesy of Allstate) during open enrollment and also to those of you who entered to win a prize by registering. Out of approximately 1700 entries, we randomly chose 75 employees to receive prizes, most of which were mailed on November 8. Prizes were donated by the NCFlex vendors who always welcome the opportunity to provide more information about their benefit(s) and want to thank you for considering or enrolling in their plan(s).

Some of our winners included Cynthia Gordan from NC State University who received a stainless steel cup, Christopher Tucker from Cultural Resources who received a SmartTag, Keita Cannon from the NC Auditor's office who received a bluetooth speaker, and Patricia Suggs from East Carolina University who received a plush blanket.

Thank you again for your participation!
