An Important Message for NCFlex Participants

November 2022

NCFlex Webinar Opportunities -

November and December

This month we are discussing our Term Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) plans through Voya. Did you know the Group Term Life Plan includes free benefits such as funeral planning services for you or a loved one? It also includes an accelerated death benefit and disability waiver of premiums. Our AD&D Plan includes a free Travel Assistance benefit, whether you have the free Core Plan and/or the Voluntary Plan.

Keep in mind, if you are a university employee, you are moving to the new university Term Life and AD&D plans starting January 1, 2023, therefore this information will only be relevant through the end of 2022.

Learn about these features as well as continuation options of these plans, during one of our November sessions:

November 18, 1 - 2 p.m.
November 29, 12 - 1 p.m.

In December, we will discuss our Cancer Plan through Allstate. Did you know that this plan not only pays benefits for cancer but also 29 other diseases? Also, it has a yearly wellness benefit for completing a routine screening, paying you for a screening that may be covered in full by your health plan.

Learn about how this plan works as well as continuation options during one of our December sessions:

December 8, 1 - 2 p.m.
December 13, 12 - 1 p.m.

Register on our Webinars Page or from the above links. We will also post the recordings on the Webinars Page after the event. Bookmark the page for later use.

NCFlex Coverage Continuation at Separation

NCFlex benefits are sponsored by the state. If you transfer within state government to another agency, university, participating community college or participating charter school, NCFlex benefits transfer with you. Also, if you leave employment, most of these plans have options to continue coverage either at the same rate you pay as an employee or a small percentage more.

Are you thinking about retirement? Make sure you know your options when you leave. The following chart lists each plan and continuation options that are available: Continuation of Coverage through NCFlex

Have additional questions? Reach out to us at [email protected]. Want to know more about the Health Care FSA or other benefits when you leave? Check out our Webinars page where you can find a recording and slides from a recent member session on how benefits continue.

2022 Health Care FSA Deadline Approaching

Don't forget, you have until December 31, 2022 to use the funds in your 2022 Health Care Flexible Spending Account through P&A. If you have a balance of at least $25, you can roll over up to $550 of that unused money into 2023, however, anything over $550 will be lost if not used by the end of this year. The $550 is a combined amount from your 2022 account and your carry-forward account from 2021, if both accounts still hold funds.

Check your account balance, file a claim or order a replacement convenience card by visiting ncflex.padmin.com. You can also login to the Benefits Enrollment Platform to Single Sign On directly into your P&A account.

For claim forms, how to upload a claim, and a sample list of eligible expenses visit the FSA section of www.ncflex.org. Need ideas on how to spend your available funds? Visit www.fsastore.com where you can use your convenience card and have FSA-eligible items shipped directly to your home or view the interactive list of what's eligible.

2021 DDCFSA Deadline Approaching

Although the NCFlex Health Care Flexible Spending Account uses a carry-forward feature, the Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account follows a grace period as in previous years. This grace period, however, was extended for the 2021 plan year from March 15 to December 31 of the following year.

If you participated in the DDCFSA for 2021, you have until December 31 to incur expenses on any leftover 2021 funds, and until March 31, 2023 to file claims for your 2021 account.

Information on eligible DDCFSA items can be found in the  NCFlex Enrollment Guide. The NCFlex FSA Claims Kit, claims form, and details of how to upload a claim can be found in the FSA section of the NCFlex website.
