HIAS Webinar

Tuesday, March 19th

9 am on Zoom

Friday, March 8 was International Women's Day — a day dedicated to honoring women's achievements and raising awareness about the ongoing issues that affect them. Then, when Purim begins on Friday, March 23, we'll be reminded of the story of Queen Esther and how it connects to today's refugees overcoming hardship and injustice.

In honor of both of these holidays, HIAS invites you to join in recognizing the strength and diversity of refugees.

Join HIAS For a Performance of The Braid’s Yearning to Breathe Free

in Greater Los Angeles and online!

Live Performance: Yearning to Breathe Free presented in partnership with the Skirball Cultural Center through April 3 at various locations across Los Angeles plus March 28th & April 7th live on Zoom.

Weaving together true stories from Jewish immigrants across the globe — Ukraine, China, Iran, Chile, Egypt, Turkey, and Israel — this theatrical production, Yearning to Breathe Free, takes audiences deeper into the experience of leaving one’s home for a new land. Rooted by their Jewish tradition, the authors of these stories find a resilience to face an uncertain future.

In this time in which the right to seek refuge and Jewish identities are dangerously politicized, this show offers depth to the Jewish experience and inspires us to take action for refugees, asylum seekers, and newcomers.

NCJW International Women’s Day Conversation: Addressing Antisemitism Across Borders - Recording

National Council of Jewish Women is so grateful that we were able to spend the morning of International Women’s Day with the U.S. Ambassador; Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, Deborah Lipstadt, and the Canadian Special Envoy on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism, Deborah Lyons in partnership with Jewish Women International. We learned so much about the rise of antisemitism before and since October 7th, the work they are doing together to combat antisemitism globally, and what inspires them as bold international women leaders!
