Take Action: Tell Congress to Pass
the Child Care Stabilization Act
| |
|
Jewish values make it clear that children are individual stakeholders in our shared history deserving of quality care and respect — and childcare is in crisis in America.
Pandemic funding that saved the childcare industry from collapse expired on September 30, which could lead to childcare programs raising their rates or closing their doors permanently, leaving countless working families without the safe and quality care they need.
More than half the country doesn’t have access to childcare already, and without funding, daycares face closures, waitlists grow, costs rise, and parents contemplate leaving the workforce.
We must pass the Child Care Stabilization Act to address the impending childcare cliff by investing $16 billion in emergency childcare funding to avert a devastating decrease in the supply of care that would disrupt the lives of families and our economy.
Urge your Members of Congress to act NOW and pass the Child Care Stabilization Act.

Tell the Biden Administration to Finalize Rules Under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act | |
|
Here's what it looks like when a state's leaders are outright hostile toward pregnant people, especially those with low incomes: They pass every restriction on abortion they can get away with, including outright bans. They also do things like keep the minimum wage as low as they can, and refuse even basic worker protections like paid medical leave.
What we end up with is a deeply unjust system where a person's ability to access health care depends on their ZIP code, their bank account, and their employers. That's why Congress passed the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. Now the Biden administration is implementing it. Make sure the Biden administration knows that we want this rule finalized — add your name now.
The new rule is simple, but powerful. One thing it does is clarify that pregnancy-related accommodations at work extend to abortion. This is an important nondiscrimination protection for women, trans, and nonbinary people.
Before this rule is finalized by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, you have a chance to weigh in. Will you add your name in support?
| |
|
The proposed PWFA rule defines "pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions" to include abortion care by aligning with the long-standing Title VII's definition of sex. What this means: employers would have to provide reasonable accommodations for employees seeking abortion care.
Everyone deserves equal access to health care, including sexual and reproductive care. No one should have to sacrifice their employment and financial security to access abortion. The comment period ends on October 10th — add your comment now to show your support for pregnant workers, including abortion patients.
